YAY HOW EXCITING! I’m soo happy for you Shanthi, sounds like she’ll be a lot of fun! And you REALLY got her HOT off the track! She might take awhile to learn to relax but I bet after that she’ll be awesome! I LOVE TB’S!

We’ll see what my reaction is when she steps off the trailer on Sunday night. 
I guess its prolly good news that she didnt do too well in that race or they might have taken her back. lol. Get pics on Sunday or shortly after! Im excited to see some more of her.
I imagine it’ll be dark by the time she gets there on Sunday, given that they’re doing the entire drive that day. But I’ll get/post pics ASAP.

I love the ex-racehorses, now that I’m working with the Milne’s I also get to work with actual racehorses though. I recently just picked up another day to work because now 6 racehorses are coming in from Belmont…it will be lots of fun, right now we have an Alysheba son, a Unbridled grandson and a Storm Cat/Carson City granddaughter in. Though none of them have measured up to their relatives. One of the girls who works at the Milne’s also has a Saint Ballado grandson, though he is only half thoroughbred.

I spoke with the trainer and he said, “she’s definitely ready to retire.” So at least she agrees with the idea of not racing anymore, too!

Have you thought about who your going to breed her to yet? She has no Northern Dancer so I guess that makes things a heck of a lot easier!
No, 'cause I’m not going to breed her for at least a couple of years. 
I want to ride/show first, not just get a baby machine. (Not to mention that I can’t afford tons of babies right now.)
If I wanted purely a baby machine, there are cheaper mares out there, with better bloodlines, that I could’ve bought.
And I think I’ll play around with WB studs first They’re cheaper, and as I’ve mentioned before in this thread, I won’t be breeding for racing until/unless I could afford to race the baby myself.

Whoo on the WB stallions… I think she’ll be a perfect cross for any stallion since she’s tall and leggy… She’ll refine the stallion nicely…
I’ll definitely try and get some photos tomorrow/Monday. It’ll probably be summer before she looks really good, though, given most TBs and trying to gain weight.

Can I just say…I’m in love. She’s sweet, she’s gorgeous, she almost uncannily quiet (she trotted/cantered/bucked three times in the 2 hours I watched her in the round pen), and she’s big! She’s only 975lbs, though, so I’m hoping to get her up to 1,100 or so by spring.

Very nice mare…despite being thin she’s a looker.
The quietness will probably pass once she gains weight…when I first rode my mare she was 100lbs underweight, and dead-quiet. Withing two months of owning her she gained 50lbs and we will just say that no one in my barn wants to ride her because they are scared.
Very nice looking horse. I hope you are happy with her and she is happy with you.
