Ivy Creek's 2016 Foal Crop

Another baby, ANOTHER filly.  Holy cow!

HUMMINGBIRD, 2016 dark bay filly, 9.0hh
SIRE: ICh. Doodles (Red Sunset {S} x Graceful Exit {S})
DAM: Bravodora (created)
This is the second foal from this stakes winning steeplechase mare, and the first filly.  And with Doodles for a sire, I would be shocked if this pretty little filly DOESN’T like hurdles.  That’s how her name came about - hopefully she’ll have the ability to fly.
BRAVODORA is visiting Latino Mix next, because he appears to have peaked at 2YO (she had her best year as a 5YO), and he also did well over hurdles (in addition to the flat).  I’m curious to see how these two combine.

Love the name.

Pretty girl

Oh yeah sweet name! My fave bird!. (I own doodles mom  ;D)

Great name, lovely girl

We finally added another colt to our ranks:

QUANTUM LEAP - 2016 bay colt, 8.2hh
SIRE: GCh. Street Wise {S} (Cross Roads {S} x Street Talk {S})
DAM: Fizzix (Seabiscuit {S} x Delicate Subject {S})
This petite little colt is a 3/4 to SP Ch. Symphony of Love.  His dam is 1/2 to several MSWers (including the well-known Torrid), though she was only a multi-winner herself.  Seabiscuit has produced a few MSWers himself (including the filly I thought was a dud and sold…of course!).  Add in Street Wise & his ties to his famous sire, Cross Roads - both have produced several stakes quality ponies apiece - and you’ve got yourself a nice little mix of bloodlines.  Here’s hoping he’ll live up to them someday!  Oh, and going with the “physics” name theme for the dam, I couldn’t help but name him after the old TV show I grew up watching.
FIZZIX is off to see Almost Precious for her next foal, in hopes that some of the Almost Home/Delicate Subject blood that created Ch. Subject to Learn will pass on!

I guess I owe you a baby some day for selling me dud Seabiscuit filly?

LOL

Sadly, that’s not the only “dud” I’ve sold that’s gone on to become a super-awesome runner.  I’m really good at doing that.  :stuck_out_tongue:
But Isobella’s Sea definitely has gotten me to be just a little more patient with everyone in the barn…even those that appear to not deserve it!  Maybe if you could just send some of your superamazing training powers to my barn…  Maybe the oats just taste better in your barn?

Seriously, though, I’m super happy to see what all she has accomplished for you.  But you bet…if she ever has a baby for sale…one I can actually afford (LOL), you better bet I’m going to try everything in my might to bring that lil’ one home!  Though I wouldn’t blame you one bit for never, ever parting with any of her babies.

The only one leaving my barn would be going to you, and it will need to go for the same price as I paid for her to even things up a little - Im excited to see her crossed with Drum Major, they have some nice dosage numbers together  Ive had a couple that I have sold that blossomed after I sold them too… a change of scenery may play into that :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s the name of the game!  And you really wouldn’t have to do that…although you know that if one ever came up to sale to me, I’d have to snap him/her up in a heartbeat.
And as for Drum Major - I’m just excited to see him retire to stud, period.  I will definitely be sending a mare or two his way when he does!

And yesterday, another baby was born at the farm, another boy (hey, they may have a chance to catch up after all!)

SWEPTOFFYOURFEET - 2016 liver chestnut colt, 9.1hh
SIRE: GCh. Simply Heroic {B} (Easy Goer {S} x Heroic Lass {S})
DAM: Whirl Me Away {S} (created)
This foal is a pretty big question mark.  His sire appears to produce mainly late-maturing winners, although he had a few MSWs from his first crop- primarily due to breeding some awesome mares in his first crop, it appears.  His dam only has 1 foal to race, and he’s only ran twice in his lifetime.  However, in his 3YO start, he won a NW1 with a pretty decent speed figure, so perhaps he’ll do well once he ever gets away from FF management.  Either way, I’m excited about this cute fellow.
WHIRL ME AWAY is off to visit Silver Wizard next.

Love the name.

It appears that I’ve spoken way too soon about fillies winning - the colts have begun to rally!

Three babies have arrived since my last post:

SPIRITOFSAINTLOUIS - 2016 dark bay colt, 10.2hh
SIRE: ICh. Gilded Saint (created)
DAM: Flying Feline (created)
Both of this leggy colt’s parents were 'chasers, so I have no doubt that he will prefer the hurdles when he gets older.  He’s a bit of a mystery with two created parents and no siblings on either side of racing age, but sometimes mysteries are the best kind.  He’s named after the famous airplane in order to connect the “flying” and “saint” references into one name.  Hopefully he’ll live up to the reference!
FLYING FELINE has been sold.

OEDIPUS REX - 2016 dark grey colt, 9.1hh
SIRE: ICh. Unabridged (created)
DAM: Theatrical Lady (created)
This handsome colt is named after the famous ancient play, as both mom and dad’s names hint at stories and theatre.  His sire did well on both flat surfaces, running well at ages 3 to 5.  Mom was also stakes placed, though she peaked earlier, at ages 2-3.  We’re hoping he inherits mom’s precociousness and dad’s longevity.  Fingers crossed!
THEATRICAL LADY has been sent to visit the famed I’m A Classic Monarchos, hopefully, now that Classic has sadly retired…

VULPES - 2016 black colt, 9.2hh
SIRE: GCh. High On Love {G} (ICh. Highland Pride {S} x Highland Lover {G})
DAM: Lucky Fox (Gallant Fox {B} x Here’s To Luck {S})
This foal is named after the classification of a true fox.  His sire is making quite the name for himself through his quite limited foals to race so far.  He is the first foal from his multi-winning dam, who is 1/2 to a couple of stakes placed ponies to date.  Lucky Fox was quite consistant for us throughout her racing career, and we’re hoping that she passes this talent along.
LUCKY FOX has been sent to see Call To War next.

Ooo nice babies, spirit looks like his daddy but with more chrome!  More big babies!!

Pretty foals, and nice names

One more, and ANOTHER colt:

TAURIK - 2016 dark bay colt, 9.1hh
SIRE: ICh. Spock (ICh. Highland Magic {G} x Somethin’ Smokin {G})
DAM: Grama’s Prize (created)
Another Spock baby has joined our barn!  I’m super, super excited to see his 2YOs run next year - we bred two of them.  This is our 3rd Spock baby, and third colt.  Figures!  The dam is a multi-winning mare who set 3 speed records from 9.5 to 12.5 furlongs.  She only ran for her 5 and 6YO years, though, so there’s no telling how good she may or may not have been as a 2, 3, and 4YO.  Ever the optimist, I like to think she might have done even better on those years, but the sensible side of me is why I chose a younger-maturing stallion to pair her with, just in case.  Plus, with Spock for a dad, I’m hoping this colt has been born with a pair of wings.
GRAMA’S PRIZE has been sent to visit One Lucky Soul, who had a stellar 2YO year.

A filly was born today!

HUSH MY DEAR - 2016 bay filly, 8.2hh
SIRE: ICh. Ring of Fire {S} (Cross Roads {S} x Playing With Fire {P})
DAM: Alwuhush {B} (Alydar {S} x Fire Flyer {S})
She’s a pretty little lady by Ring of Fire - I can’t tell you how excited I am to finally have a filly by him, though I can’t explain it (his babies aren’t old enough to really know if his daughters will be good broods, obviously), but I am overly happy to have her nonetheless.  All of her 1/2 siblings 4YO and up are winners, with one being stakes placed.  The 2- and 3YO are still finding their feet.  I now own four of her offspring, so I have offered to send her back to her former owner, Windward Farms, as Paul sold her to me to help me get my breeding program off the ground.  If he declines or doesn’t respond, she might be joining our upcoming auction.  As for the name, it’s the first that popped into my head, but I rather like it.

Cute!

Love the name. Good luck with your future ROF broodmare. I hope he turns into a nice BM sire.

Cute filly, love the name!

Another foal, another filly!

EVENING PRAYER - 2016 bay filly, 9.0hh
SIRE: War Chant {B} (Danzig {G} x created)
DAM: ICh. Twilight Embers {B} (Ch. Irish River {G} x Evening Flame {P})
Finally, another filly from our former Horse of the Year broodmare!  This is only her second filly from six foals.  She was bred to be a 3/4 siblings to the multi-stakes winning mare, Ch. Evensong, who I was fortunate enough to lease for a bit.  I’m slightly iffy on her name, though I think it’s a lovely tie-in to both sides of her pedigree.  It’s growing on me…
TWILIGHT EMBERS is hopefully off to visit I’m No Fool for another HOTY x HOTY foal.
