We have had an eventful several days at the farm. We are pleased to introduce:
MAXWELL - 2016 black colt, 8.1hh
SIRE: Ch. Rumor Has It {B} (Planet Hollywood {S} x Street Talk {S})
DAM: Fleur’s Debate (WCh. What’s Debatable {S) x Fleur de Lis {S})
This lovely colt was bred along similar lines as the mare, RINGS OF SATURN, who is by Planet Hollywood and out of Fleur de Lis. She was stakes placed on the track, and has already produced a stakes winner. He is actually named after one of the rings of the planet, Saturn. His dam is also a 3/4 to MSW Nightshade. Her oldest foal is a 3YO filly by Gimme A Shot, who has just made her track debut. We are thankful to get a healthy colt from this cross, as we lost a filly from this same cross last year.
FLEUR’S DEBATE is hopefully visiting Chivalry for a double-dose of What’s It Worth.
INNUENDO - 2016 light bay filly, 9.3hh
SIRE: ICh. Take Me Away (Cigar {G} x Take Account {P})
DAM: The Cover Girl {B} (created)
This pretty filly is 1/2 to two stakes winners - Undercover Girl and Cover Story. Her dam has produced colts for the last 4 years, so we are extra grateful to see a live filly from this cross. Add in dad’s credentials and pedigree, and we are beyond excited to see how this girl might turn out. We own her 5YO 1/2 sister by Alydar, who will likely be joining the broodmare band this year as she can’t seem to get back into racing form this year. We also own the 3 colts that preceeded her.
THE COVER GIRL is off to visit One Lucky Soul.
VOIR DIRE - 2016 dark bay colt, 9.1hh
SIRE: ICh. Sixth Day (Planet Hollywood {S} x GCh. Carbon Copy {P})
DAM: GCh. Madd Karol (created)
Finally, a live foal from our starter mare! We have waited a long, long time for this one. Karol lost her filly by Rahy last year, which was a devastating blow. This boy will no doubt remain at Ivy Creek - and now begins the long wait 'til he can hit the track and we can see if he inherited his momma’s talents. Mom did terribly on the flat, but immediately became a star once she switched to hurdles. She even got nominated for an eclipse award, because she was pretty much unstoppable over fences. Who knows what this little fellow will prefer, but we are already looking forward to trying to figure that one out. He is named after the process of selecting a jury - as having an impartial jury is part of the sixth amendment.
MADD KAROL is visiting Express Yourself next!
Unfortunately, we also had a long and stressful night trying to assist our gold-rated mare, CROSSTHETHRESHOLD, give birth to a foal by Sneak Peek. After many hours of struggling to save both the foal and his dam, we had to make the difficult decision to put the mare’s safety first. Despite the veterinary staff’s best efforts, we not only lost the foal, but more internal damage was inflicted on the mare than would allow her to ever safely give birth again. She is recovering well considering the great duress she was under, though she seems to be quite confused and depressed without a foal, having been through the process several times over in her lifetime. We are doing our very best to insure that she recuperates and is pampered, so that she will hopefully have a long and happy retirement which she so much deserves.
This foal would have been a full brother to MSW Ch. Encore Performance. CrossTheThreshold also produced MSW GCh. Debut Performance, SW Ch. Artefact, SW Afterglow, and SP Murder By Numbers. In addition, she also has a 3YO filly, 2YO filly, and yearling colt who will help carry out her legacy. We own the 2YO and yearling, as well as the 4YO filly, Afterglow, who has hit her stride this year, starting 2016 undefeated and winning her first stakes race this week.
5 fillies | 3 colts | 29 still due
