Ivy Creek's 2016 Foal Crop

It’s that time of year again!  This year, we are expecting a whopping 37 foals - our biggest crop by a longshot.

This year, you may see several changes - we will most likely be parting with a few broodmares and leasing a few more out in order to make room for some new additions to the broodmare band.  Stay tuned for updates about that, and feel free to PM me if there are any particular broodmares you would be interested in leasing for the 2017 season.

This morning, the first of our babies arrived:

FOOLISH QUEEN - 2016 dark bay filly, 9.0hh
SIRE: NCh. Bellagio (Lonesome Glory {S} x Foolish Question {P})
DAM: Must Be Royal (GCh. Must Be Magic {S} x Ch. Jungle Queen {S})
We are super excited to see this cross produce a healthy baby, and a filly to boot.  Both of her granddams are gold-rated - Foolish Question (dam of Foolhardy) and Jungle Queen (dam of future stallion, GCh. Lonesome King).  She was bred specifically to mimic the cross that produced Lonesome King, as Bellagio shares the same sire, Lonesome Glory.  Hopefully this star power combines to make her a monster on the track AND in the breeding shed someday.
MUST BE ROYAL is visiting Sneak Peek, as her dam crossed well with Worth.

1 filly | 0 colts | 36 foals still due

Lonesome Glory love! I hope Lonesome King gets studified–just 1 SW away.

Lovely filly!

Two more babies to announce:

STARS ALIGN - 2016 chestnut filly, 8.3hh
SIRE: WCh. All Jazzed Up (GCh. Jazz It Up {G} x GCh. Whimsical Whirl {P})
DAM: I’m a Star (created)
Second foal from stakes placed dam, by a yet unproven sire.  His first crop hits the track this spring, so it will be interesting to see how they do.
I’M A STAR is currently up for lease for the 2017 season.

ICONIC - 2016 dark bay colt, 8.3hh
SIRE: Silver Charm (created)
DAM: Ch. Keria Toon (created)
3rd foal from stakes winning dam, and the sire is yet unproven.  His first foals hit the track this spring.  Also, Iconic’s 1/2 sister (Singsong, x Rahy) hits the track this spring.
KERIA TOON is visiting Take Me Away for her next foal.

2 fillies | 1 colt | 34 still due

Love the names!

Not a homebred birth to announce, but I just redeemed some activity points to acquire a pretty little filly:

PROVOCATIVE - 2016 dark grey filly, 9.0hh
SIRE: created
DAM: created
One giant mystery!  But with my luck, that will make her my superstar.  Born January 11, this will hopefully give her an extra edge.

3 fillies | 1 colt | 34 still due

Love the name

Provocative is lovely - mysteries are fun!

Good luck with her

Finally, another baby to announce - the first of 6 due within a week before or after today.  And another filly, to boot.  I definitely do not want to jinx this year, but it looks like it might be a filly-heavy one for us.

LONG HOT SUMMER - 2016 dark bay filly, 8.1hh
SIRE: ICh. Gunningdownromance {S} (What’s It Worth {P} x Seek For Love {P})
DAM: Adriatic Swan (created)
Beautiful, petite filly from a fairly new but promising sire, and out of a dam who holds a speed record and was a multi-winner.  This is mom’s 3rd foal (2nd filly).  Her 2YO colt by What’s Your Point will race this year.  She is named in honor of the Keith Urban song.  It’s to celebrate a stroke of good fortune - my boyfriend’s band was flown out to Nashville by Mr. Urban to perform with him thanks to their youtube cover of this particular song.
ADRIATIC SWAN will be offered for sale.

4 fillies | 1 colt | 33 still due

nice one and congrats on both things!
love your website what program did you use/site?

Holy moly! For sure congrats! That’s a huge huge break.  My sister in law lived in Nashville for awhile before her job took her to Memphis.  What’s your bf’s band name?
Congrats on your filly too.  She’s really nice.

I created the images using good ol’ Microsoft Paint long ago - by tediously coloring in a real life photo for each, then using the “fill” tool to create the different coat colors.  As for the site, I created it from scratch - mostly HTML, with some CSS I believe.  It’s just a big table, I believe.  It’s been a while…  :stuck_out_tongue:  But I wanted something clean & simple, so it works.  And the webhost is freei.me.  It’s free with no ads.  I stumbled upon it while searching for ad-free free hosting.

They make a living playing music here in Kansas City as a cover band called The Transients.  They are working on an original album at the moment under the name of the lead singer (that’s the current plan).

The video they submitted (learned & created in less than 24 hours) is here: youtube.com/watch?v=kz6U3Lzp … HtkDx5Dt-W
You’ll also see my boxer pup, Nova…and if you look really closely, me in the final clip (not my face, thank god!  I was being a bum that day)

And Keith Urban has the video of Patrick Woolam (the singer) performing with him at the Long Hot Summer (#1 Party) clip up on his thread.

While they were in Nashville, they got to meet a lot of important people, and hopefully this will help them get the ball rolling.  It’s not an easy industry to break into, that’s for sure.

will keep fingers crossed for them!! and thanks ill check that site out!

We have had an eventful several days at the farm.  We are pleased to introduce:

MAXWELL - 2016 black colt, 8.1hh
SIRE: Ch. Rumor Has It {B} (Planet Hollywood {S} x Street Talk {S})
DAM: Fleur’s Debate (WCh. What’s Debatable {S) x Fleur de Lis {S})
This lovely colt was bred along similar lines as the mare, RINGS OF SATURN, who is by Planet Hollywood and out of Fleur de Lis.  She was stakes placed on the track, and has already produced a stakes winner.  He is actually named after one of the rings of the planet, Saturn.  His dam is also a 3/4 to MSW Nightshade.  Her oldest foal is a 3YO filly by Gimme A Shot, who has just made her track debut.  We are thankful to get a healthy colt from this cross, as we lost a filly from this same cross last year.
FLEUR’S DEBATE is hopefully visiting Chivalry for a double-dose of What’s It Worth.

INNUENDO - 2016 light bay filly, 9.3hh
SIRE: ICh. Take Me Away (Cigar {G} x Take Account {P})
DAM: The Cover Girl {B} (created)
This pretty filly is 1/2 to two stakes winners - Undercover Girl and Cover Story.  Her dam has produced colts for the last 4 years, so we are extra grateful to see a live filly from this cross.  Add in dad’s credentials and pedigree, and we are beyond excited to see how this girl might turn out.  We own her 5YO 1/2 sister by Alydar, who will likely be joining the broodmare band this year as she can’t seem to get back into racing form this year.  We also own the 3 colts that preceeded her.
THE COVER GIRL is off to visit One Lucky Soul.

VOIR DIRE - 2016 dark bay colt, 9.1hh
SIRE: ICh. Sixth Day (Planet Hollywood {S} x GCh. Carbon Copy {P})
DAM: GCh. Madd Karol (created)
Finally, a live foal from our starter mare!  We have waited a long, long time for this one.  Karol lost her filly by Rahy last year, which was a devastating blow.  This boy will no doubt remain at Ivy Creek - and now begins the long wait 'til he can hit the track and we can see if he inherited his momma’s talents.  Mom did terribly on the flat, but immediately became a star once she switched to hurdles.  She even got nominated for an eclipse award, because she was pretty much unstoppable over fences.  Who knows what this little fellow will prefer, but we are already looking forward to trying to figure that one out.  He is named after the process of selecting a jury - as having an impartial jury is part of the sixth amendment.
MADD KAROL is visiting Express Yourself next!

Unfortunately, we also had a long and stressful night trying to assist our gold-rated mare, CROSSTHETHRESHOLD, give birth to a foal by Sneak Peek.  After many hours of struggling to save both the foal and his dam, we had to make the difficult decision to put the mare’s safety first.  Despite the veterinary staff’s best efforts, we not only lost the foal, but more internal damage was inflicted on the mare than would allow her to ever safely give birth again.  She is recovering well considering the great duress she was under, though she seems to be quite confused and depressed without a foal, having been through the process several times over in her lifetime.  We are doing our very best to insure that she recuperates and is pampered, so that she will hopefully have a long and happy retirement which she so much deserves.

This foal would have been a full brother to MSW Ch. Encore Performance.  CrossTheThreshold also produced MSW GCh. Debut Performance, SW Ch. Artefact, SW Afterglow, and SP Murder By Numbers.  In addition, she also has a 3YO filly, 2YO filly, and yearling colt who will help carry out her legacy.  We own the 2YO and yearling, as well as the 4YO filly, Afterglow, who has hit her stride this year, starting 2016 undefeated and winning her first stakes race this week.

5 fillies | 3 colts | 29 still due
1 stillborn, 1 mare retirement

Sorry to hear about the loss of your foal and the retirement of CrossTheThreshold… I hope she live a long healthy life of retirement…

Congrats on the other healthy foals…

Sorry about your stillborn. :frowning:

Love the names, as usual.

Sorry about the loss of the foal and the mare’s retirement.

Love the other foals though

Sorry for the lost o e, hope she gets fat and sassy in the pasture. Lovely foals!

First, I intended to write a proper write-up on CROSSTHETHRESHOLD, our newly retired mare, but ran out of time last time.  In her reign of the broodmare barn, she has produced 2 living colts (we have the yearling) and 6 fillies (we own the 2YO and 4YO).  Of the six to race so far, they have earned a combined total of $1,513,750 so far - an average of over $250,000 apiece, including the very green 3YO with only 3 starts under her belt.  Her get include: 8YO MSW GCh. Debut Performance, 7YO MSP Murder By Numbers, 6YO MSW Ch. Encore Performance, 5YO SW Ch. Artefact, and 4YO recent SW Afterglow.  I have no doubt that her superiority as a broodmare will continue to be shown though her offspring yet to race, and that her line will be carried on through her many daughters.  I feel incredibly blessed to own 3 of her offspring, with 2 of those being fillies who should always have a home with us to race until they are ready to join our broodmare band in the very distant future.  I also hope that CROSSTHETHRESHOLD shall continue to live a long & happy life, long enough to see her babies grow up and become champions in their own rights.  I know she would be proud if she only understood.

And now, I want to introduce our newest baby:

CALLA LILY - 2016 bay filly, 9.1hh
SIRE: ICh. Candidate {S} (What’s It Worth {P} x Dark Magic {p})
DAM: Sovereign Song (created)
Super, super excited to have a Candidate foal, especially now that his talent as a sire is emerging.  His first crop to run was small and included some very nice broodmares, but I don’t doubt that he had a little something to do with their success.  As for Calla’s dam, she never ran on the flat or as a 2YO, but over fences she was quite the athlete.  In addition to her several wins, she also holds a speed record for 8.5f steeplechasing.  I’m really hoping her abilities combine well with Candidate’s.
SOVEREIGN SONG will be offered for lease this year, and bred by us only if there are no takers.

6 fillies | 3 colts | 28 still due
1 stillborn, 1 mare retirement
