We’re at the end of an expected quiet period when we didn’t expect to have any foals born.
Looking at the birth dates of all of our horses, we only have 2 horses in the stable born between the dates Feb 9th and Feb 12th. The next 6 days, however, are a completely different story and we expect a flurry of new arrivals in these 6 days, although we only have 7 foals still due.between January and February.
As predicted, after the 4 day “break”, we had another foal born overnight. Mother and baby doing fine. This boy wasn’t actually due until March 5th so we still have one January-expected foal that’s holding out. It’s probably saying that it’s not going to come out until the weather gets warmer!!!. Maybe I should name it Punxsutawny Phil (or Filly) when it finally does decide winter is over and it’'s okay to come out (there is a Punxsutawny Phily already, so I guess that won’t be acceptable - Better hope it’s a filly then)!!!
