All right, I think I broke a lot of things, and hopefully fixed an equal number of things, all relating to auctions. We will see, once an auction starts and the chaos begins.
The one thing I haven’t touched re: auctions is automatically setting up the FF ones. I’m hoping to rewrite that bit in the new code, and have it automatically run, so that it’s all self-managed and not relying on me to remember that it’s the time of year for the 2yos, or the mixed auction, or whatever.
No matter how often I look at my stables and think that I need to downsize my horses, I see an Auction (especially an FF one) and it becomes an obsession to bid on some more horses.
I echo the sentiments already shared, but super excited to see stuff in progress! I have no coding skills, but if you ever need a hand with prepping some list or whatever to make the coding easier for you I can (try to haha) help!
I love seeing the game continue to progress so a big thanks Shanthi!
Would it be easier to program a general auction once a month? FF could program to enter some of their horses each month etc but make the auctions open for anyone to enter horses.
my theory being that even if there’s only 20 or 50 horses each month going through the ring it drives engagement and has us all looking forward or thinking each month to what we can buy or sell. It can be tedious for a stable to set up their own larger sale but if it’s already there each month we’d all be thinking about it. I feel that would create more interaction for FF.
I know that maybe more work initially but may just bring a bit more life to FF.
Went to the Clicker Lab Auction to place bids on some of the horses but, while it shows the details for the Auction e.g. start date, end date, etc, it doesn’t show the horses in the auction.
I’ve placed a bid on one horse in the auction that’s listed with no reserve however the countdown timer still says 6 days left so I’m assuming it hasn’t registered.
I was able to place bids on a couple of horses, where I was the first person to bid on them, however, when I tried to place a bid on a horse that somebody else has already placed a bid on, when I click on the “Place my bid” button, all I get is a blank screen and my bid doesn’t appear to get registered.
Okay, So now, while it shows that I’ve placed a bid on the horse, Der Blaue Engel, it is still showing Generous as the bidder with a high bid of $1,000, and my auction watch page shows the horse in the Lost Bids section, with the Horse Current Bid (Your Max) as $1,000 ($10,000).
Now I wanted to go to a horse’s page from Auction Summary page and got message “This horse is not consigned to this auction!” once, but next time it worked.
Also, it says " Horses will sell 12 hours after the last bid is placed, or at the close of the auction." but I’m almost sure that I gave it more time, 24 hours or something… I usually do that thinking that people live in different time zones.
