The Road To The Roses Challenge is back up for another year! If you haven’t played before: You can make a stable of 10 horses (and add 5 others with supplemental drafts later on), two jockeys, and two trainers, and you can have five horses active at a time. If your active horses do well in races, they’ll score points. The stable with the most points will get a trip to next year’s Derby as well as other fabulous prizes! Sign-up is free.
I’ve done it the last couple of years, and it’s fun. I highly recommend it!
Road to the Roses is a real-life challenge. You are picking real three-year-olds that are on the track right now and who you would expect to be racing in (and winning!) the Derby come May. It’s a fun thing many of us do.
It would be really fun to do this in FF, but I think we’re a bit small for it. We have less than 1,000 3yos, whereas the real world has over 37,000. (Though FF obviously has probably a 99% chance that a horse will race its 3yo year, whereas the real world doesn’t have quite such high chances.)
Shanti,
Do you want me to set up a FF league in the Road to the Roses game? Then all the FF members can “compete” against each other by picking RL horses to run for the Kentucky Derby.
Last year Shannon and I were in like 4 different leagues, using 1 stable that we had picked.
I just set up a league last night for Oregon Racing.
I will set up one for FF. I will post the link and all info needed for everyone to join it.
** FYI** I just created a league for FF and I am waiting for the confirmation codes and then I will post it here.
I will also post basic start up info.
League Name: Final Furlong
League Number: 2538468160
Activation Code: 1032205263
Use your screen name on FF to make it easier to track everybody.
Read the rules 1st. Look at the Playing Tips and also, I think it is called the Commissioners Stable for who he picked IF you are unsure of what horses to use.
Make sure you read the PLAYING TIPS. It has very important info in it on how to play.
If you need any help, post or PM me and I will be more than happy to help you.
We got some good teams signed up already and a nice diverse stable of horses picked so far.
Make sure you “activate” the horses that are running this weekend(if any) by friday night. You can only activate 5 and if there are more than 5, you have to choose which ones you think will do best.
There should be horses running this weekend as the Risen Star Stakes is running and that is a huge prep race. Keep an “eye” on the Race Schedule and Off the Trail. Doesn’t do any good to activate a horse that is injured or taken off the trail.
Oh, my goodness I just took a look at the grand prize. That would absolutly be a dream come true! I think I would just drive down and claim the $500 instead of flying if your aloud to do that. I wish I would have done a little more research when I chose my horses but I think I have an okay field. A few long shots, but some promising ones too. Yay for fun-ness! Hope we all do well!
