RC Bee 2017 Crop

I love the name (and the song).

I love the name This is War, and I also like Chrysopoeia.

One of the last of High On Love’s crop has arrived at our foaling barn.

Introducing [color=red]Live Laugh Love, a pretty plain bay filly by GCh. High On Love-Art Of Life, by Secretariat. She is Momma’s first foal and from the family of GCh. Must Be Magic. I can’t wait to cross her later with my home stud.

Art Of Life will be bred back to Take Me Away.

Golden Silk’s colt is officially named Chrysopoeia and one of our mares is still hanging onto her foal. I hope the wait is worth it, lol

Lovely filly

Nice filly!

Guess who’s a month late? This girl! And what a surprising color, too.

Say hello to [color=red]Idol of Babylon, a strawberry roan filly by NCh. Eighteen Karat-Ch. Devil’s Test and our first homebred Karat filly. Wanted to name her “Golden Idol” but that was already taken and “Golden Calf” seemed a bit wrong (especially with the horse meat scandal going on in Europe, lol). Obviously going for a biblical theme here, so we went with the golden idol of Babylon erected by the king with the really ridiculous name. Waited an entire freaking month for Devil’s Test to drop her foal (she was due 1/30). That’s definitely a new barn record, and one I hope none of my other mares attempt to emulate. Idol should hopefully turn out to be a long-winded turfer like her lovely parents.

Miraculously Devil’s Test did not botch her reserved booking and will be bred back to Long Live The King for what I hope is another nice long-winded foal, lol.

Pretty, and I like the name

Congrats on a healthy foal.

I love your names.   Very creative.

Can’t use magic carpet as I have magic carpet ride (too close )

Already chose a name that has nothing to do with magic carpets, so no need to worry ;-3

It’s (another) boy! At least he’s just a few days late rather than a month,  >:D

Welcoming [color=blue]Gerrymander to the fold. He’s by ICh. Candidate-Ideal Ransom and he’s his momma’s third gray foal. His name was a bit too easy to pick out but that’s what happens when you’ve a degree in political science, ='D Candidate’s the sire of my MSW Super Tuesday, who’s now a brand new broodie, and Ideal Ransom was a nice consistent turf router.

Ideal Ransom is shipping home for a date with home stud Eighteen Karats.

Love the name.

Another foal arrives, and it’s another boy ::) Waiting for the last 3/2 mare to let go of her foal before the rest of the early March babies arrive.

Say hello to [color=blue]The Last Crusade, a handsome bay colt by NCh. Call To War-Glory’s Jewel, who’s off to a promising start thanks to her multiple winning 3YO. I chose the cross mainly because the mare’s huge and the stud’s tiny. Name was a bit difficult to come up with but I think this one works. Let’s hope his career’s more successful than the Crusades were.

Glory’s Jewel will be bred back to Tiznow.

LOve the name!

Love the name!

Great name.

Oh my goddddddddd more boys.

Greeting us at this late hour on an unseasonably cold SoCal night is [color=blue]Handel, a knock-kneed and frankly baffled black boy by WCh. As You Wish-Ch. Sonatina, by NCh. Government Secret. I figured everybody else already used up all the possible Princess Bride-themed names so I went with a name more in line with the mother’s, eventually settling on Handel for George Frideric Handel, a composer who wrote a piece called “Sonatina”. This one has some fun inbreeding, with the great Secretariat back at 3x3 in his pedigree. I’m not as squicked by inbreeding as some but I try to make sure only superior individuals are the ones showing up twice in the family tree.

Sonatina’s coming home for a date with Eighteen Karat.

Still have one broodie due 3/2 who’s still clinging to her baby. Apparently I had four mares due 3/2 and none of them were interested in foaling on time. What even.

[color=blue]10 colts / [color=red]4 fillies / 1 stillborn / 10 foals left <— this is so lopsided I just want to cry

Congrats!

I have two foals inbred, one to Alydar, the other to Highland Rogue and Cigar… and I was strongly against inbreeding but then decided to experiment a little…
