Railbird Racing Dispersal

I have received word that Drew of Railbird Racing has passed away. :frowning:

All of his non-retired horses have been added to an auction which will start next Monday. No reserves or limits on the number of horses purchased, but depending on how the bidding goes I may add some in.

Any unsold horses will revert to FF ownership.

My condolences. RIP Drew. We’ll miss you!

Bidding is open.

So, who did you walk away with?

First up, Carbon Copy, an 11yo broodmare by Cross Roads (S) out of Unknown Powers (S). She was MSP on the track, and is 1/2 sister to SWs Pentecost and Unknown Laird and SP McTaggert and War Powers.

Her foals include MSWs Sixth Day (qualified stallion by Planet Hollywood) and Curunda (4yo mare by Crystal Rainbow).

She’s in foal to Count Me In for 2016, and we own NO relatives from her female family.

We also had to pick up 2yo daughter Apprintice, by Candidate (S). She won her debut race, and we have high hopes for her future.

Not to be greedy, but we snatched up yearling daughter Original Copy by Lasting Spirit (B). We don’t have any yearling LS foals, and we wanted another shiny baby.

All told - $1.837 million for those 3. Ouch.

We were also excited to snatch up 8yo broodmare Spell Breaker, by Highland Wizard (S) out of Cross My Heart (G). She and her dam were MSWs and millionaires on the track. Her first foal is a 2yo by Crystal Rainbow, already placed in one start. She’s in foal to What’s Your Point for 2016.

Because we love Spectacular Bid and War Admiral, we had to take home SpectacularDiamond, 4yo MSW multi-millionaire who took home 3yo Filly of the Year honours last year. We’re hoping to race her at least another year before seeing what her babies can do.

Last but not least, we grabbed two daughters of Get the Point. Point The Finger is a big 2yo filly by Jazz It Up, a sire we love, and is already multi-placed in 2 starts this year.

Beside The Point is her weanling sister by i’m Your Angel (B). We don’t have any of his foals, so we were glad to pick up this cute filly for a (relatively) low price.

We were outbid on Jester’s Crown, a yearling Foolhardy filly out of Crowning Glory. Best of luck to Cricket Hill with her.

Just over $3mil spent total. Drew had some really nice stock, and my hoarding instincts kicked in.

I hope Drew would have been pleased with the prices some of his stock made. As you said Shanthi some lovely horses in there.

Came home with four new ponies.

Two bargain purchases and two slightly more expensive ones  >:D

First in was [color=red]Ch Ring Of Brodgar a 5yo mare by Highland Pride out of Onyx (The Black). She’s a SW, MSP 3/4 sister to GCh High On Love. She’s not shown any form this year but I wanted her for breeding so I’m not too worried. She’ll be the first horse in the barn to carry The Black’s bloodlines so pleased she only cost us $1000.

Also $1000 was yearling [color=red]Palace Masquerade, a half sister to winning 2yo Gunningdownlove (By Must Be Magic ex Palace Charm). I loved the name really  :stuck_out_tongue:

Third in, probably the only one that might make us some money, 2yo [color=blue]Crystal Wizard (Crystal Rainbow ex GCh.Spell Breaker). Beautifully bred and already at the track in England he cost $95,500. Let’s hope he can live up to his pedigree.

Final one in and our most expensive purchase GCh.[color=red]Salem, a MSW, MSP daughter of Wayfaring Minstrel and the Gold Ranked Timless Wiccan. Very excited to have her. She’s in foal to V Is For Victory but due Jan 2nd so here’s hoping she keeps her legs crossed! She cost $255,500.

Definetely. The auction was pretty exciting. I have spent only $20,500 buying 15 horses, but they are all great.

I bought 5 broodmares (all created) so now I have 7. Starting from the oldest:

[color=red]Easy Union - born in 2006, 17.3h. She’s a beautiful, large chestnut with bald face. She will have a chestnut foal by ICh. V is for Victory. We love chestnuts!
[color=red]I’m Not Pink is a blue roan mare born in 2008, now in foal to Sun King, so we should expect a solid dirt runner.
[color=red]Tuff Muffin also born in 2008, is a cute dark bay mare now in foal to ICh. Almost Precious. Both horses have speed records for 9.9 furlongs on turf, so we will know what to do with their baby. It should also be a late maturer.
[color=red]Noisy Nancy is a very pretty mare with two front socks, born in 2010. In foal to NCh. The Fighting Fifty, who is also the father of our 2yo filly [color=red]Silver ‘n’ Starz. The filly won her maiden last Saturday so we will be happy to have another foal by this stallion.
[color=red]Tea Cup was still a racehorse at the auction, but we decided not to race her anymore. Now she’s in foal to NCh. Cryptic Ballad. The baby should be a beautiful all-rounder, with parents successful on dirt, turf and in steeplechasing.

Racehorses:

5yo:

[color=red]My Irish Knee - a created mare who didn’t race much in her lifetime. Maybe we will try her in steeplechasing and then find her a stallion. She has a speed record on dirt.
[color=red]Pussycat Doll - similar plans for her. Two speed records on turf and a great pedigree.

4yo:

[color=red]Pandora’s Box - by NCh. Seattle Sorcerer, she won one race this year, two races last year and placed in a stakes race. No plans for her yet.
[color=blue]Sputnik - our champion! He’s cute, but can he still win a race? We have to find out.
[color=red]Summer Morning - by Chef-de-Race (I) Almost Home, she has a speed record in a steeplechase. She has yet to win a race this year.

3yo:

[color=red]Love Signal - a tall, light grey mare by GCh. High On Love, out of silver ranked Advance Signal. She needs to improve her fitness and then I’m sure she can win a maiden
[color=red]Southern Saga - another light grey mare with beautiful pedigree, who still needs to win a race. Fingers crossed!
[color=red]The Woman In Black - but she’s not black. By Chef-de-Race (I) Black Gold, out of bronze ranked Strike And Run. She won a race!  ;D once.
[color=blue]Tizaflirt - another stallion in our herd. By the famous Tiznow. We’re not gelding him yet
[color=red]Unseen Sky - another blue roan filly, now in training. We’ll see what she can do.
