I ended up going on a shopping spree, bought some just because I felt bad nobody had bid on them then discovered some stellar lines! I will post them all tomorrow after I see if my last bid wins or not.

Spent way more than I wanted.Ā Lost some of my favorites because the prices got too high.Ā Good luck with Original Copy, Shanthi!Ā She topped my list. =)
I ended up with 4 very nice mares.
[color=red]GCh. Lonesome Lover (Lonesome Glory (S) x Ch. Hollywoodās Lover (S) by Planet Hollywood)
Lonesome Glory is by far my favorite broodmare stallion. Coupled with Lonesome Loverās impressive race recordāsix stakes wins, including a win at the Breederās CupāI knew I had to have her.Ā Sheās bred to Broad Account, so weāre also super interested to see how the baby turns out. We spent $250,500 on her.
Our other most expensive purchase was [color=red]Jesterās Crown (FFCh. Foolhardy x Ch. Crowning Glory by Lonesome Glory)
Did I mention I like Lonesome Glory mares?Ā Lonesome Glory granddaughters are just as good too.Ā Throw in up-and-coming stallion FFCh. Foolhardy, and this one was hard to walk away from.Ā Purchase prise: $250,500
[color=red]GCh. Blackfoot (Created)
This was a nostalgia purchase.Ā Blackfoot bested my mare GCh. Fit to be Jim, so I was excited to see her up for sale.Ā She had an awesome 3yo season, winning 9 stakes wins, albeit most ungradedānot surprising given that she was a jumper.Ā She was the 2011 steeplechase filly of the year, and I managed to steal her for a mere $51,500.Ā
[color=red]Ch. Passinā Sandi (Created)
Sandi had an impressive 3yo career.Ā She was undefeated and earned four Gr. 1 Stakes Wins. She was both the 2011 3yo filly of the year and turf mare of the year, including the Breederās Cup Mile.Ā For a mare of her accomplishments, I am really glad she flew under most peopleās radar.Ā Purchase Price: $41,500
I have one more bid out.Ā So, weāll see how that turns out.
Indeed I just sold a gelding for more, in a claiming race ($30 000) so I would have more money than before the auction, if the money-counting script didnāt get lost at the end of the day, on Wednesdayā¦ maybe there was a bug or something.
I spent more than I wanted, too (just over $56,000 for seven horses), but Iām very excited for all of my purchases and knock on wood, but my stakes horses have been bringing home plenty of money recently. Drew really did have lovely stock.
Most of the racehorses I bid on with an eye towards retiring to brood in the next year or two, so mostly older mares with lines I liked who have been at least moderately successful.
Four-year-old [color=red]Ch. Pegasus Pride is a stakes-placed steeplechaser by Tiznow and out of Knightās Mystery (by Dark Knight). She looks like she still has plenty of solid allowance-runs left, and weāre very excited to get her on the track.
[color=red]Ch. Guns of Summer is a multiple stakes winner, multiple stakes placed created five-year-old steeplechaser. Sheās been running pretty solidly in the middle of the pack in stakes company this year, so weāll see if she can still be competitive in allowance fields and then probably send her to the breeding shed in 2016.
[color=red]Ch. Moon Eclipse is a stakes winner, multiple stakes placed created four-year-old. Sheās been running well this year.
[color=red]Prom Queen is a Harvard Bound two-year-old. She is a June filly who is still pretty short, so she will spend some time growing up before hitting the track later this year. I bought her mostly for her name and my love of black horses.
We also bought one broodmare and two weanlings. [color=red]Ch. Kilburn Kate is a multiple stakes placed six-year-old maiden broodmare in foal to Gilded Saint for early January.
The only colt I walked away with was [color=blue]Mister Majestic. By Blue Ensign and the first foal out of multi-millionaire GCh. Majestic Time, weāre very hopeful that this boyās highly successful parents left him a nice genetic endowment.
Finally, we picked up [color=red]Sea of Tranquility (Witness x Luna Sea). Iād been looking for a 2015 filly since I only had colts thus far, and she fit the bill nicely.
Since I didnāt check until bidding had been open for several hours I only went after ones with no bids. Iām quite happy with what I wasĀ able to pick up. We were looking to strengthen our turf stock so I went heavy on the turf.
Broodmares
Energy Burner (x Created) 8 Y/O. She won twice on the track, both times on Turf. Her oldest foal is a yearling and she is in foal to Sleipnir.
Justwaitandsee (x Created) 7 Y/O. Three time winner, all on turf. Her oldest is a yearling and she is in foal to Call To War.
Luna Sea (x Created) 7 Y/O. Three time winner, once on dirt and twice on turf. She earned over $160k. Her oldest is a yearlingĀ and she is in foal to Holy Bull.
Mystic Artifact (x Created) 7 Y/O. Three time winner, once on dirt and twice on turf. She had her first foal this year and she is in foal to Witness.
Palace Charm (x Created) 9 Y/O. Three time winner, once on dirt and twice on turf. Sheās had 4 foals, her oldest being a 3YO.Ā Her 2YO filly is a winner. She is in foal to Silver Charm.
Racehorses
Princess Pride (x High On Love) 2 Y/O Filly. Her first start was a promising 4th.
Yearlings
For Ricker or Poor (x Strike It Rich) Colt. Dam was an earner of over $180k. Her first foal, a 2YO, is a winner.
Dont Tread On Me (x The Fighting Fifty) Colt. Dam was unraced but is a Bronze rated producer. Both of her foals to run areĀ winners.
Weanlings
Poursomesugaronme (x Candidate) Filly. Dam was only placed and her first foal is a yearling. But something about picking this filly up just felt right.
Seven Veils (x Gotta Go) Filly. Dam is a MSW and earner of almost $500k. This is her first foal.
So I ended out picking up 10 good horses for $21,500. Plus 5 2016 weanlings.
I had thought to get maybe 4 or 5 horses but the ones i really wanted soon had bids way out of my reach. With such good stock for sale I expected them to be snapped up so I made small bids on 19 horses expecting to loose most of them. Instead I came home with 13 of them for an amazing $52,500!
Among the highlights were:
[color=blue]Ch Northern FleetĀ a SW and MSP who looks like he still has some good racing left to do. $2,500
[color=red]Spartan Queen a SW and SP daughter of NCh Highland Wizard - a stallion who I have always wanted a foal from. She was bought as a broodmare for next year. Amazing price of just $1,000
[color=blue]Texas Chilli, my most expensive purchase at $15,000. Also by Highland Wizard he has been placed in 2 stakes races this year from four starts, so looks to have some real potential for the rest of this year.
[color=blue]SuperbiaĀ a 3yo colt out of MSW/MSP Chase the Wind, by the sadly retired ICh Highland Pride. He has not shown much form so far but Iām hoping this just means he hasnāt reached his peak yet!
[color=blue]Jamaican Blues was another 3yo who looks like he still has lots of potential being a SW and MSP. He is by Northern Dancer who is another stallion whose foals I have wanted.
[color=blue]Zajal is a 2YO with just one race to his credit so hopefully lots of potential there, especially as he is clearly immature and only just had his real birthday. With WCh Highland Bandit for a sire I think $3000 was a bargain price.
I also got some yearings, weanlings and created broodmares.
Iām just surprised that so few stables actually bid.
We went into this auction planning to buy a number of horses. We had earmarked four broodmares (including [color=red]G.Ch. Carbon Copy and [color=red]G.Ch. Spell Breaker), each of which had three progeny also in the Auction, and intended to put bids on them, hoping to get the whole family. However, the above two broodmares were soon priced outside what we were willing to offer and their foals were also soon more than what we were willing to spend on them.
That being said, we did get one broodmare, 8YO [color=red]Ch. Crowning Glory, by [color=blue]Lonesome Glory out of [color=red]Slew OāDiamonds as well as one of her progeny, a weanling colt out of [color=blue]Call To War who has been renamed [color=blue]Crown of Thorns. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful with the other two foals. The cost for these two was a mere $35,000.
In addition to these, we acquired four colts with a view to adding to our Stallion numbers:-
[color=blue]G.Ch. Attheheartofitall, a 5YO colt by [color=blue]Alydar out of [color=red]Blazinā Hearts, who only needs one SW to qualify.
[color=blue]I.Ch. Blue Smoke, a 5YO colt by [color=blue]Blue Ensign out of [color=red]Smoke ānā Mirrors, who has already qualified and will be retired to the breeding sheds at the end of this year.
[color=blue]G.Ch. Paranoia, a 5YO colt by [color=blue]Conspiracy Theory out of [color=red]In Effect, who also needs only one SW to qualify.
[color=blue]Ch. Lucky Streak, a 3YO colt by [color=blue]Rahy out of [color=red]Ch. Wild Streak, who needs three more SWās and 1 G1 Place to qualify, but, as he is only 3, he still has time.
In keeping with our policy of trying to acquire siblings of horses we already own, we also got [color=red]Leoness, a 3YO filly by [color=blue]Alley Cat out of [color=red]Blazinā Hearts, making her a half-sister to [color=blue]G.Ch. Attheheartofitall.
All in all, we got 7 horses and spent just over $1.6m and are pretty happy with the purchases we made.
It shows how wonderful this game is that we feel close enough to each player to feel genuine sorrow when someone passesā¦ You will be missed, Drew.
As for the sale, I aimed for three horses that caught my eye, but two were bidded on beyond my budget. The mare I did win, however, was a steal in my opinion.
I managed to snag [color=red]Hadhafang, a lovely blue roan broodmare that stands at a towering 17.2h, for a mere $1,000. (How this happened baffles meā¦ I think sheās wonderful and I initially thought that she would be the one that I would be outbid on.) That single grand I paid also got me the little one sheās pregnant with, sired by Cryptic Ballad. Sheās Final Furlong bred, so she doesnāt have a pedigree that proves her and she frankly had a miserable career on the track, but sheās such a beauty that I canāt help but think that I have a gem on my hands.Ā
