Sorry can’t help - just as clueless as you re noms! Miss em all the time!
It’s not a sensitive topic, I’ve just been busy with eye surgery and then out-of-town visitors.
It was, and I’m planning on eliminating nominations for the code re-write. I will likely implement a qualification system, instead, so that the top 14 horses for a given race (based on earnings/wins at that distance/age/whatever) would get to enter for, say, the first 4-5 days a race is open for entries, and then it would open up to the rest of the horses in the game.
Not applicable, but also not really an issue with the current code. You have 2+ years to nominate horses now, and while I’m aware that the system could use a major overhaul (which is why it’s getting scrapped altogether ), it’s not like the Breeders’ Cup (which does have supplemental nominations) where you only have 1 year to get it done.
Eye surgery?! Holy moly! Did you get Lasik? Hope it went well!
Yeah, I understand there is plenty of time nominate, but my issue is I hate to just pick and choose a horse when they are weanlings for races that are 3-4 years away. I think it’s a waste of money to nominate whole foal crops to one race when it’s easier and cheaper to wait and see who performs well and just nominate the one or two horses. Lastly, I usually do have my favorites nominated by this time but since the discussion on eliminating fees I forgot. Is there a way to open up race entries to non-nominated horses after a period of time before FF horses are entered? I thought this might be an option since nominations are on the down slope anyway. But no big deal I guess…there’s always next year.
No, cataract surgery. Went pretty well, my eye was about 20/60 with glasses and now it’s 20/30 with nothing. Only problem is that eye is now farsighted and my (still uncorrected) eye is nearsighted so my brain’s rather confused, making reading for long periods tough.
I get the argument, but that was kind of the point of nominations you’d either have to just spend the (less) money early on and nominate everyone as babies, or wait to see who was nice and nominate them (for more money) later. I’m trying not to change anything (beyond bug fixes) with the current code, though, so that I can focus more on creating new/better code.
The new code is going to be “da bomb diggity”! (yeah I said it! lol!) I will quietly shoo along now.
That’s the plan. Maybe not quite so gangsta-ish, though.
Is anybody else having a problem viewing the “Race Nominations” on the “Racing”/“Special Races” Tab?
I was trying to map out my horses races for the end of September/early October and was trying to see what races were “Nomination Only” races. All I get is a blank screen.
I wasn’t sure if this was something wrong with my Browser or if Shanthi has deactivated it due to the recent communications about this feature, or if this is an actual bug.
Shanthi, a related question:-
Is the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Oct 2nd a “Nomination Only” Race? I wanted to enter a horse to run in it (the horse is currently based in Australia), but didn’t want to ship the horse to France to then find out that he’s not eligible to run in the race.
Thanks.
I have the same thing, just a blank screen. I saw that, figured my internet was being funky and not loading pages all the way. I tried it again just now, and the same thing happened. I’m not sure what’s going on.
This is a bug. Any “white screen of death” is a bug.
Yes, it is nomination-only.
I have a question regarding breeders cup nominations. I couldn’t find it so hopefully this hasn’t been answered.
I was thinking of doing a late BC supplemental fee for a filly I own by Romeo. I know famous stallions were BC nominated. I was wondering if this was ever changed and all FF stallions were nominated? I couldn’t tell by looking at their pages. Definitely don’t want to spend the money to do it until I’m 100% sure.
Thanks.
No, all FF studs are not nominated.
It may be too late to do a supplemental nomination for the BC for this year. Nominations need to be done 30 days before the race.
I had already asked that question in another thread and Shanthi replied that BC Supplemental Nominations could be done right up to when Entries close.
Ok, I’ll just assume Romeo wasn’t nominated.
Thanks
