Starting this year off a little differently than last year. Our only male foal last year sadly didn’t make it. This year’s first foal, also a male, is alive and kicking and raring to be shown off to the rest of you guys.
Thanks! I’m still trying to decide on a good name for him. There’s a couple going back and forth in my head, but they’re kinda iffy.
Although, the more I look at his pedigree and try to combine his parents’ names together, the more I keep going “Paddy Started It” in my head, like some kid tattling. XD I think I’m gonna go with that, for now, at least until I can either come up with something different, or to see if it sticks.
Came to check my mares this morning to discover my first timer Strike Out had decided to deliver a little early (not sure exactly WHEN she was due, cause I’ve lost my notes, but I know she wasn’t next in line). But that’s perfectly fine with us as long as the foal is happy and healthy and he certainly appears to be.

Well, after days of checking and pacing and checking and pacing…we finally have another foal born. But, he’s not the one we were checking for. Our girl Penny Lane must really just not like going full term, her '14 foal was born about two weeks early as well if I remember correctly. This guy, I’m not 100% sure, but I think he was due somewhere around the 14th.
Anyways, moving right along…
This guy’s being tentatively named Penny Ante, which is basically just a poker game where the highest bet is limited to a penny. For some reason, it just seemed to fit.

0 fillies, 3 colts, 9 foals still due (according to my overview page, next due is on 1/29, obviously she’s overdue.) We’ve got two more due today who’ll probably be late, one due tomorrow, and still waiting on Lillys and Roses to uncross her legs for the baby who was due last Saturday. Maybe I’ll come home from work to find four more babies born (yeah, right).
Haven’t yet decided who I’m sending Laney to yet, but I’ll let y’all know.
[edit] I was wrong, Laney gave birth late last year, by nearly 3 weeks. Don’t know who I was thinking of when I said she was early.
Came to my barn today to discover yet another new foal. With so many due so close together, I never know what to expect when I come in. Anyways, my Color War mare Magnolia Mae decided to foal a couple days late, and surprise surprise (not!) it’s yet another colt. The colt’s are definitely coming on strong this year.
For some reason, the only name coming to me with this guy is Bayou King, but I’m more than open to suggestions, cause I’m not sure if I like it that much.
Finally! Exactly a week late, Lillys and Roses has finally decided to give birth! And to (wait for it) yet another colt. Don’t think I’m going to end up with a single filly this year, the way things are going. Lol.
Name ideas are greatly appreciated, cause I’m coming up empty.

Well, looks like my run on colts is still not over yet. Wind of Miriah was due to foal on the 1st, but held out till today just to torment me a bit, and gave birth to a beautiful black colt with only a very little bit of white on him.
We’re tentatively calling him Winding Causeway, which combines both his parents’ names pretty well, but suggestions are welcome cause I’m kinda iffy on it.
Still no new babies. I’m starting to wonder if the one who was due on 2/2 is ever gonna uncross her legs. As of now, she’s exactly 20 days overdue. goes back to watching and pacing
Finally! After teasing me for 22 days, Echo couldn’t keep her legs crossed any longer. And this guy’s a beauty, guess his Mama knows my fondness for black horses, lol. And yes, it’s yet another colt.
No idea what to name him yet, although Echo Valley does come to mind. Suggestions would be appreciated.
