Ivy Creek's 2018 Foal Crop

A “top stable”…?  :astonished:
I hadn’t considered myself one of those!  I guess I still picture my “little” farm as one of the newer underdogs, even though I’ve been here for years now.  I’m a long, long way from the legacy most of the REALLY big name stables have created.  But that’s an interesting perspective - and flattering.   I hope I can get him to do you proud!

We got a lovely trio a couple days ago.  Apparently they all wanted to arrive together.

WISH COME TRUE - 9.1hh blue roan colt
SIRE: WCh. As You Wish {S} (WCh. Secret of Love {G} x NCh. Cross My Heart {G})
DAM: It’s All Yours (Forget It {G} x Fondly Yours {B})

This handsome colt is the third foal (and third colt) from this multi-stakes placed mare.  The first foal is owned by FF, so who knows when he will have his first start.  It may be a while 'til we have any idea how this mare produces, but I’m hoping the 3 gold-rated grandparents shine through…
IT’S ALL YOURS is visiting Blue Smoke this year.

HOLDIN’ THE GUN - 9.0hh dark grey filly
SIRE: ICh. Spock {B} (ICh. Highland Magic {S} x Somethin’ Smokin {G})
DAM: Murder By Numbers (Run For It {S} x CrossTheThreshold {G})

This is the third foal (and first filly) from this multi-stakes placed mare.  She is the first daughter to take her dam’s famous place in our brood band after her retirement.  (Her dam was our first gold-rated broodmare.)
MURDER BY NUMBERS is visiting Witness this year.

ZODIAC THEATER - 8.2hh grey filly
SIRE: GCh. Galaxy’s Zodiac (GCh. High On Love {S} x GCh. Dream Skipper {G})
DAM: Theatrical Lady (created)

This is the third foal (and first filly) from this stakes placed mare.  Normally we prefer our broodmare candidates to have a little more prestige - in achievements and/or pedigree - but Theatrical Lady had a very solid, too-short 2YO year (she only ran 4X per year), and we think we can use her early maturity to influence our future generations.  Time will tell!  Her first foal, Oedipus Rex, seems to be mature and is in training now…
THEATRICAL LADY is visiting V is for Victory next.

One more!

DIRTY MARTINI - 10.0hh dapple grey colt
SIRE: NCh. Slip in the Mud {B} (created)
DAM: Ch. Manhattan Melody {S} (What’s It Worth {P} x Cocktails At Eight {S})

This colt was bred by Stillwater Farms and purchased in-utero with the dam.  He is 1/2 to SW Ch. Songcatcher and SP Party Doll.
MANHATTAN MELODY will visit Witness this year.

Congrats - love the name!

Great name

Another colt!

WAR IS HELL - 9.2hh mahogany bay colt
SIRE: NCh. Dark Demand {B} (Black Knight {S} x In Demand {G})
DAM: War Cat {B} (created)

I’m excited to see such a tall, handsome colt from this cross.  This is our second foal from this sprinter mare (and her fifth total foal).  He is 1/2 to SP The Last Secret, owned by Renegade Racing and Breeding.  The other two are owned by FF.  He is, of course, named after the famous quote.
WAR CAT is visiting Lasting Spirit in hopes he’ll help her throw a good 2yo runner.

A filly!

THAT’S SO TRUE - 8.2hh dark grey filly
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {S})
DAM: That’s So Funny (created)

This is the fourth foal from this very tall, multi-winning mare.  The first, now 3, STILL hasn’t hit in his projected height range.  We started him as a late 2yo (December), and he broke his leg in the same month during a tragic workout - WALKING.  Her 2yo filly is nearly at her projected height, but we’re not taking any chances this time around.  She’s still a pasture ornament until she matures a bit more, just to be safe.  Witness also tends to throw late bloomers, so I expect this one to sit out her 2yo year, most likely.  Hopefully she is worth the wait.
THAT’S SO FUNNY is visiting Sleipnir this year, who was a MSW at 2yo.

Love the name!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks in RL (I’ll explain that in a later post), but in the meantime, we have 5 new babies to announce.  Somehow, they’re all boys…but healthy!

SUNRAY - 8.2hh grey colt
SIRE: Sun King (created)
DAM: Ch. Runaway Angel (created)

This boy is a gamble based on his created pedigree.  Dad’s first crop is just hitting the tracks this spring, as is mom’s first foal (eventually, we assume).  Dad didn’t race in-game, but mom is a MSW who set a whopping 5 speed records, mainly on sprints.  Needless to say, we’re curious about how this boy turns out!
RUNAWAY ANGEL is visiting Witness next, since he likes to throw long distance runners.  Hopefully they’ll meet in the middle!

HONEST FOX - 8.2hh bay colt
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {S})
DAM: Lucky Fox (Gallant Fox {B} x Here’s To Luck {S})

This is the third foal from his dam, who was lightly raced, but still set 3 speed records.  Both mom & dad liked longer distances, so we expect that this boy probably will, too.
LUCKY FOX is visiting V is for Victory next.

KEMISTREE - 8.1hh light bay colt
SIRE: FFCh. High Chances {G} (GCh. Highland Laird {S} x Second Chance {P})
DAM: Fizzix {S} (Seabiscuit {S} x Delicate Subject {S})

This colt is 1/2 to SP Xcientist.  His dam seems to throw late bloomers, and High Chances is known for get that don’t blossom 'til 3 or later, so we’re probably looking at another one.  But hopefully, when he does finally find his feet, it will have been worth the wait.
FIZZIX has been sold to Marshall Creek Ranch.

UPSWING - 8.2hh chestnut colt
SIRE: WCh. Drum Major (GCh. High On Love {S} x Rapunzel {G})
DAM: Uptown Girl {G} (created)

This colt is 1/2 to MSW Ch. Queen Catarina, SW Ch. Goodnight Saigon, and SW Ch. Newyorknewyork.  The dam is one of our most successful producers right now, so we’re super excited to see a healthy foal on the ground.  He’s got quite the big shoes to fill someday!
UPTOWN GIRL is visiting Witness next.

CLASSIC ROCK - 9.1hh bay colt
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {S})
DAM: Ch. Classic Irish (NCh. I’m A Classic {S} x Ch. Celtic Mist {S})

This colt is bred 2x3 to Class Act.  His dam is a lightly raced SW, and dad is slowly proving himself in the breeding shed.  It will be interesting to see how this cross affects his talent in a couple years.
CLASSIC IRISH is visiting V is for Victory next.

Love the names, as usual.

Lovely foals.

I would  like Fizzix if you decide to sell please.

Two mares foaled early (they couldn’t wait 'til June), and the fillies will officially lose this year:

TIMITI - 9.1hh bay colt
SIRE: FFCh. Foolhardy {P} (What’s It Worth {P} x Foolish Question {P})
DAM: ICh. Twilight Embers {G} (Irish River {G} x Evening Flame {P})

This colt is by far our most royally bred, so I’m incredibly relieved to see that he’s arrived safe and sound.  Not only is he by the only platinum ranked stallion in the game, but he’s also 1/2 to recently stud-qualified NCh. Fight The Twilight and SW Ch. Ciao Bella.  With all that gold & platinum in his pedigree, I really hope he can live up to it! He’s named after a festival in which the townspeople walk over embers.
TWILIGHT EMBERS is being re-bred to Foolhardy in hopes of getting a filly this time…not that I’d be unhappy with another colt!

Sadly, we lost our other foal:

SIRE: ICh. What’s Your Point {G} (Point Given {S} x Rosebud {G})
DAM: Playful Breeze (NCh. I’m A Classic {S} x Lucky Breeze {S})

I’m incredibly sad to lose this colt, especially since his sire retired this year.  I seem to have incredible bad luck with foals of newly retired stallions.  Darn.  At least mom has been cleared by the vet, though.
PLAYFUL BREEZE is coming to visit our own V is for Victory.

Sorry for your loss Alyssa. The Foolhardy colt is fabulous though

Sorry about your colt, Alyssa. Timiti may have to find his way to my barn under the cover of darkness.

So sorry for your loss, he was a beautiful colt :frowning:

Oh you can bet he’s being kept under lock and key for just that reason!

Apparently the fillies didn’t like my comment, as they added two more to their ranks today:

EYEONTHEPRIZE - 10.0hh dark bay filly
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {S})
DAM: Grama’s Prize {S} (created)

This pretty filly is by our first stallion, Witness, who’s gaining credentials through his get, slowly.  His dam set 3 speed records on the track despite her short career (age 5 & 6 only).  Only one half sibling has raced - a 3yo filly who is a multi-winner.  I was on the fence about selling the dam, but now think I might keep her around for another season or two.  Her get seem to mature late, but that might make her a good match for Ducati when he retires…  However, this particular filly seems awfully big (i.e. mature) already, and Witness is better known for throwing late maturers, too.  Maybe this filly will prove that theory wrong!
GRAMA’S PRIZE will sit open 'til spring - this thrower of late maturers needs to foal sooner than June next time!

CHASING GOLD - 9.3hh bay colt
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {S})
DAM: Olympic Gold {S} (created)

Another big Witness filly from a silver-rated mare.  However, Olympic Gold threw us a MSW, 3yo Ch. Olympic Torch, on her first try, so her actual rating number is a 20.0 right now until her get have more races behind them.  She’s definitely one of our up-and-coming broods.  I’m excited to get a full crop of Witness babies to the track and test them out, but it will still be a while yet.
OLYMPIC GOLD is visiting Drum Major this year.

So sorry about the What’s Your Point colt.

Congratulations on the Foolhardy colt. When he gets to my stable , we’ll have to change his name, though. LOL!

Four more have made their arrival:

TREASURE HUNT - 8.3hh black filly
SIRE: NCh. Changeling (Sadler’s Wells {G} x Dark Magic {P})
DAM: Highland Treasure {S} (GCh. Highland Laird {S} x Harada’s Treasure {S})

This pretty filly has quite the pedigree to back her up. Though her dam is only rated silver currently, we expect that rating to go up as her offspring get more races under their belt (she is at a 13.8 score currently). This makes her 1/2 to MSW Ch. Worth A Treasure and SW Such A Fool.  This is, of course, her sire’s first crop, so we will have to see.
HIGHLAND TREASURE is visiting V is for Victory next.

CATCH A RIDE - 9.1hh mahogany bay filly
SIRE: Candy Ride (created)
DAM: Catch A Glimpse {B} (created)

This filly is quite the gamble. She is from her sire’s first crop, and her dam has only produced two winners from four starters so far.  Most are owned by Final Furlong, though, so who knows if they have been given a real chance. Our first foal from her is her 2yo who was given extra time to mature and has not yet started.  Her dam did set a sprinting speed record, though.
CATCH A GLIMPSE is being listed for sale.

FLEET EIGHTEEN - 9.3hh bay colt
SIRE: NCh. Eighteen Karat (What’s It Worth {P} x Heart of Gold {S})
DAM: Just Fleet {B} (NCh. Fleet Street {S} x Just Like You {B})

This colt is from a mare who has produced two winners from four starters, mostly under FF management.  I’m hoping that the cross of his extended pedigree will pull through and grant him talent on the track. This is only his sire’s second crop.
JUST FLEET is visiting Ring of Fire this year.

LIFE OR DEATH 8.3hh blue roan colt
SIRE: ICh. To Die For (NCh. Slew O’Scots {S} x Ch. Trail of Smoke {P})
DAM: Sunday Living {B} (Sunday Silence {S} x Viva V {S})

This colorful colt is from his sire’s first crop. He is 1/2 to SW Ch. Six Ways to Sunday and two winners from four to race. I’m curious to see how he turns out as a result.
SUNDAY LIVING is currently seeking a boyfriend, preferably in Aus.

Nice foals. Really surprised Treasure Hunt wasn’t already in use.

Well darn.
July isn’t off to a very good start.

First, our first stallion, ICh. Witness, has been retired at age 12.  He was only allowed 1 full season with us - two total, if you count the last few bookings after we acquired him, and this season which was tragically cut short.  I blindly had assumed that we had several more years with him around.  Thankfully, he is still alive and healthy enough (aside from breeding capabilities) - so we hope he will live many long years and live to see the rest of his progeny grow up & blossom.

Then, to add insult to injury, our silver-rated mare delivered a stillborn colt by Witness.  I told you I have abnormally bad luck with retired stallion foals!  :frowning:  This is the second stillbirth at the farm this year, with the first being the What’s Your Point (retired) colt…

SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {S})
DAM: Springwalker {S} (created)
SPRINGWALKER is visiting Unabridged next.
