Last year saw us standing our first stallion for his first full season, so we look forward to welcoming several Witness babies.
Last season was incredibly colt-heavy, so we’ll see what this season will bring!

We started out with a pretty filly on the first:

ROYAL WEDDING - 8.0hh dark grey filly
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {G})
DAM: Must Be Royal (GCh. Must Be Magic {S} x Ch. Jungle Queen {S})

This little filly is the third from her dam.  The first, a Bellagio filly, will run this spring.  The name seemed fitting, as it is certainly something “royal” that we all would like to “witness”.
MUST BE ROYAL visits Animal Kingdom next.

Today, three more joined us:

DEVILMADEMEDOIT - 9.3hh chestnut colt
SIRE: NCh. Carrowmore (Ch. Irish River {S} x Dark Miss {P})
DAM: Devil’s Dream (NCh. Devil May Care {S} x Ch. Hope’s Dream {B})

This colt is the second from his dam, though the first foal was bred & is owned by Lochiedo.  He’s a well-bred, strapping colt, though.
DEVIL’S DREAM visits Sixth Day next for a similar cross as that which produced MSW Ch. Volkl.

JEWELED CROSS - 9.1hh dark bay filly
SIRE: Ch. Magic Cross {S} (Cross Roads {S} x Highland Sorceress {P})
DAM: Ch. Bold Jewel (Bold Ruler {G} x Queen’s Jewel {S})

This is the second foal from the dam, and the sire is one of my favorites.

This filly is 1/2 to MSW Ch. Singsong and the 2yo multi-winner, Pistolwhip.  The name was meant to connect the names - if you “witness” something, you will forever “carry an image” of that.

This colt was bred by Fox Run.  It is the first foal from the dam, who was a multi-winner and set a speed record at age 3.

This is the second foal from the dam, though the first was bred out on lease.  This colt is a bit of a gamble, but I’m hoping he figures out how to run.
RENEGADE SONG is visiting Edinburgh for a 2x3 cross to Cigar - fingers crossed.

Me too! I worked with a Hackney pony stud briefly named Vindication - thought that was a cool name, too.

This little colt is from a random pairing.  He is the first foal from the mare, who was very lightly raced through her career (an average of 3 starts per year), and thus doesn’t have much to show for it.  Still, she finished in the top two 6 of 12 non-stakes starts from ages 2 to 6.

I’ve been a bit busy lately, and have had the most difficult time naming babies this year.  Don’t be surprised if a name or two changes later, after I get more time to stare at it & decide if it truly “fits”.  :stuck_out_tongue:

Since my last post, our baby count has DOUBLED.  :astonished:  Thankfully, everyone is healthy and happy so far.

On January 30th:

GHOSTHEART - 9.1hh bay colt

This is the 8th foal from this proven producer, though only the second for us.  This foal is 1/2 to MSW Ch. Imperial Gesture, SW Ch. Alybama, and SP Heartless Junction.
HEARTLESS visits Witness next.

On January 31st:

LOST BOY - 10.0hh blue roan colt

This is the 6th foal from this stakes winning, multiple speed record setting mare.  Two of the three foals to race are very underraced, and the third is by a sire I’ve never had luck with, so I’m going to blame him.  :stuck_out_tongue:  This is my first foal from her.

On February 7th:

This is the first foal from this multi-winning, speed record holding Bold Ruler daughter.  Add in his sire, who is making a name for himself, and I have high hopes for this big boy.

On February 8th:

METROPOLITAN - 9.1hh bay colt

This is the third foal (and third colt) from this SW mare.  Her 2yo colt by Gunningdownromance is owned by Pruchna, so we will be watching his career with interest.
COSMOPOLITAN is visiting King David this year as both her sire- and damlines seem to do well with him.

She’s probably my favorite from that batch, too, just based on her name.  She was the easiest to name!

This is the first foal from the dam, a multi-winner.  The dam wasn’t started until age 3, but had a respectable OTB percent for ages 3 & 4.  I had planned to run her more before retiring her, but I ended up with an open booking to Sleipnir that I didn’t want to miss and no unbooked broodmares.  Fingers crossed on this one.  But she is named after the main source of knowledge about Norse mythology (and, by default, religion/holidays).

I’m so glad to have a healthy foal from our gold-rated mare.  This makes him 1/2 to MSW Ch. Oh So Proud, SW Chicago’s Demon, & SP Ch. Oh So Famous.  I suspect he’ll be a late bloomer (from both sides of his pedigree), but he ought to be worth the wait.
OH SO SHARP is visiting the in-house stallion, V is for Victory, next.

This is another foal I am excited about.  This is the 3rd live foal from this MSW mare.  The oldest, 2yo VOIR DIRE by Sixth Day, will start this spring.  She was one of my two starter horses, which adds to the excitement of this foal.  Then, having the famous Strider as a sire doesn’t hurt, either.
MADD KAROL is coming stateside to visit Bellagio, a sire we’ve had amazing luck with.

Fourth foal (and fourth colt) from this stakes winning dam, and from his sire’s first crop.  He is 1/2 to MSW Ch. Sportsmanship, one of our better 2YOs last year.  I’m excited for this one.

This is the fourth foal from this stakes placed dam, and the sire has proven himself to be one of the best.  She is 1/2 to V is for Valiant, who won two of his three starts, before tragically breaking his leg in a freak accident.  He is on the mend, though, and will be tested again late in his 3YO year.
I’M A STAR is coming back to see V is for Victory for a full sibling to Valiant.

This is the fifth foal from this 3-time speed record setting mare.  The first two (Comedy Queen & Smile Awhile) are winners.  I held onto this boy because I’m excited to see what Sea the Stars does as a sire.

Another healthy foal!

This is the first foal from this multi-winning mare.  She comes from a great pedigree, but was underraced.  I purchased her as a 6YO who hadn’t won since age 3 (with only 3 starts at age 4, 0 starts at age 5, and 1 start at age 6).  I felt it was too late for her to make a name for herself on the track, but I’m hoping that her strong pedigree will carry over to the next generation.  The sire, Magic Cross, is one of my absolute favorites.  I tend to get MSWers out of him.

This foal is 1/2 to MSW Ch. Sovereign Glory and SW Ch. Brianza, the only two foals from this mare to race yet.  So far, she’s proving to be QUITE the producer.  I’m excited to see what this guy can do.

This foal is 1/2 to MSWers GCh. Coquette (4yo f) & Ch. Allnighter II (3yo f).  She looks a lot like her dam.  Unfortunately, Klondike Nights has unexpectedly been forced to retire due to health complications.  Thankfully, I own several daughters who will someday replace her in the shed, but it’s still a tough bit of news to accept.
