I'm new and was wondering.......

Hello everyone I’ve been playing with everyone since around the end of April and i really enjoy this game, but my general impression was that it would be a little more active than it has been since i started from my understanding the Creator/Administrator is busy and does have a life outside of FF (which i understand completely) but i was really looking forward to some auctions and meeting all kinds of people and yet i haven’t met many peeps and i’m really starting to get bored does anyone have any ideas for anything to pass the time?

              Thanx,
                      Tanna

We do normally have things like auctions and the Color War, but it seems those have been put on hold until further notice. It’s true, things have been really quiet, which is why I’ve been placing bets on lots of claiming horses so I can have some new critters to play with… that’s all I can recommend, for the time being.  :-\

I agree, everything is pretty much on hold right now which may make it harder for a new member to acquire horses and get acquainted with the game. This probably isn’t the best time to come into the game but if you can sit tight I’m sure things will get back to normal and you’ll see more of what this game has to offer.

Okay thanks for the suggestions and I’m really looking forward to Color Wars and my first Game Auction there are some awesome prospects out there…(sigh)  I’ll stick it out but I’m really excited and don’t know how to contain it.

If you’re truly that excited, you can help organize auctions. The main reason there hasn’t been one yet is that I haven’t had time to go through the horses FF owns and pick ones to put into an auction. If you want to help out with that, let me know.

That said, I’m really not happy with how little I’ve done with FF in the last, say, year. :frowning: Life has been pretty crazy what with moving to a new country, settling in to a new place, new job, etc. Still, I hope things will quiet down a bit soon and I can finally have some free time to devote to working on FF again. I’ve got a lot of plans I want to put in place.

Of course I would love to help YAY Now I’m really excited just let me know where you would like for me to send you a ideas list…OMG I’m so excited again and again I have to g get a bag OMG!!!

Sorry guys better now WOW

I’ve been meaning to ask you… how did the move go? All settled in? Does it feel like how yet? And what’s the time difference?

Hey if there are any other tasks that members can do for you I am willing to devote some time as well.

I’d love] to help choose colts/fillies/horses to put into a Final Furlong auction! Just give me some specifications and I’ll get hunting.

Any way I can help, just let me know!

It’s actually gone far better than I expected. I’m pretty much settled in, though culture differences still abound, obviously. I don’t think it quite feels like “home” yet, but it feels comfortable, so that’s a start. I’m now on GMT, so 5 hours ahead of EST.

For anyone that wants job:

We need horses for each of the auctions. That means…

  • 2yo auction (may as well still have one, even if it’s a few months late ): 150 horses, probably made up of 50 colts, 60 geldings, 40 fillies (I don’t know if FF owns 60 2yo geldings, but obviously colts can be gelded)
  • Mixed auction: 200+ horses, probably 75 racehorses, possibly a stallion (unless he goes in the select), 50 broodmares, 50 yearlings, 25 weanlings
  • Select auction: 100+ horses, probably 30 racehorses, possibly a stallion, 30 broodmares, 20 yearlings, 20 weanlings
  • Foal auction: 100+ horses, 60 yearlings, 40 weanlings

There are also quality restrictions on the horses going in (high quality for select auction, lower quality for the others). If you want to pick horses for an auction, please let me know and I can specify the restrictions.

I’m sure there are other things that could be done as well, but I can’t think of them right now.

Your family is from London, right Shanthi? Are you a dual citizen? I’ve pipe-dreamed of moving to London, but I’ve heard from several people that work visas are a real undertaking. What part of the city are you living in?

Hi Shanti,
if you need any help I have a fair bit of free time so i can help with whatever is needed.
Regards,
RC

My mom’s extended family is here, yes. And thanks to my mom being born here, I’ve got dual citizenship. That made it far easier to move here and find a job. And yes, I’ve heard many horror stories about how hard it is to get a work visa. They’ve adjusted the rules a bit to make it easier (in theory), but it’s far from trivial.

I’m living in central London, which is both nice (easy access to things) and a bit annoying (loads of people/traffic/noise). Overall I like it, though. I live right across the street from a small park, which is good for my dog, and I like my flat/flatmate.

I wouldn’t mind helping select some horses if you still need some volunteers.

Glad to hear your settling in well. Looks like the British weather might finally be improving for you as well  ;D

i remember living there we were an hour from london , we would go to rislip(sp) and take the tube in, and spend days just going around doing fun things. i am not doing a lot right now if you need a hand with anything, i am just an hour difference from you here in germany.
[color=red] i am willing to help out with the select auction if you want to send me the criteria, etc ,  i cant do a whole lot else  right now(i can sit at the pc)  i was diagnosed with diabetes a month ago and am trying to get used to all the new meds so i am home a whole LOT!!!
just pm me what you want or email if you would like my help. Carole

I would love to help out with the mixed/foal auctions if you need it Shanthi

I would LOOOOVE to do the Select Auction.  PM me the restrictions.

FYI everyone else:
Pureblarney which auction are you doing?  2yo?

If that is the case we just need 2 more volunteers for the Mixed Auction and the Foal Auction.  Instead of just posting that you are willing to help, post which auction you want to do and Shanthi will PM you the specific requirements.

I wouldn’t mind looking for horses for the Foal Auction. Just PM me all the restrictions and I’ll get down to it.  ;D
