[color=blue]Nettle Spinner
Born January 2, 2017
Joyeux Oiseau x Novel Advantage (B)
9.2h flea-bitten grey colt
Both parents are from created lines, so this new boy is a bit of a mystery. He seems to take after his sire in appearance - here’s hoping he can run like him, too. Nettle Spinner is named for a French fairy tale and might be a sales candidate depending on my finances later in the year…

Giant’s Causeway (B) (Storm Cat (B) x Created) x Rainbow’s End (B) (Rainbow Quest (G) x Silver Myst (G))
8.1h liver chestnut filly
Rainbow’s End was leased from Darkwood Stables. I wanted a Giant’s Causeway baby and he’s crossed well with Rainbow Quest broodmares (a cross that produced MSW Ch. Basalt and Ch. Mollycoddle), so I’m eager to see how it plays out here.
Another day, another foal - and given my racehorses didn’t show up for me very well today, he’s definitely the highlight.

Born January 9, 2017
Magic Glory (S) x Guns of Summer
9.0h dark bay colt
This is the first foal for his created MSW MSP champion dam. Both parents excelled in steeplechase and seemed to peak later in their careers, so I’m expecting I’ll have to sit on my hands with him for a few years. And hopefully I can be patient and it pays off.
His name may change at some point - there are an awful lot of ponies with “Battle”-themed names but it seemed to fit, so it’ll do for now at least.
Wow, we’re having a colt heavy year. That’s fine with me, actually - as racehorses I seem to have much better luck with the boys. So welcome to our two new colts - one rather early, the other quite late.

Joyeux Oiseau x World War III (B) (War Admiral x Created)
8.0h flea-bitten grey colt
We bought World War III from Black Storm West in foal to Joyeux Oiseau, hence the second baby by him for us this year. World War III is an older gal with 10 foals on the ground, and this is only her second colt in all those years. Confession: I stole this name from a dressage horse at the stable I board at - I think it’s the cutest name ever.

Born January 20, 2017
Devil His Due (B) (Go For Dash x Devil’s Own) x Dream of Genie (Magic Cross x Regal Spirit)
8.3h bay colt
Dream of Genie didn’t want to let this one go. She was due 2 weeks ago, but she’s been holding out on us. Apparently she was waiting to give me a birthday surprise, finally foaling on my 23rd birthday. I’m always sentimental about the ones born on my birthday… Dream of Genie will have her first racing-age foal this year, so we’ll be eager to see how she does. Dream of Genie has been leased out for 2018. Mirror Dreams is the name of an awesome young adult book I was obsessed with in middle school.
One of the mares we leased last season foaled today. The trend continues…

Mr. Prospective x Positively Magic (Magic Cross (S) x Royal Magic (S))
9.0h dark bay colt
I leased Positively Magic, a stakes-winning mare, from Battle Hill Farm last year. Mostly went with my gut on this pairing - Mr. Prospective has a small 2015 crop and Positively Magic will have her first racing age foal this year, too, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for them as producers. Both could run well, at least, so here’s hoping! The name comes from Harry Potter, of course.
