If/when I do betting, there
won’t be any age limit, I’ll just have to put a disclaimer of some sort up saying that
it’s not real money and to not bet more than you can afford to lose.

Okay sounds good! Oh, and I
also really like the idea of being able to see other players’ stables. I really like
looking at how other people are doing (I’m kinda nosy ). Love all the ideas you
mentioned.
All the injury discussions
got me thinking it would be cool if you could have a “vet” visit to give a prognosis on a
horse’s injury. It could be a little “GOT-like” in that it wouldn’t be perfect, but would
be indicative…“ready to go” or “2-3 more weeks” etc. Of course the vet visit would cost
money, so you would want to use it wisely.
We’ve been thinking about a
vet feature, but haven’t had time to implement it.
Yay, I think I’ve thought
of a fun feature!
How about a feature on the individual horse pages were we can see who
has owned that horse so we can see how many times that horse has been bought or sold. I think
it would be cool cause then there would be a documented history of each horse. Where he/she
has been how long they were there and how much they were sold for. What do ya think??
yeah, i’ve been wondering
about a feature like that for a while now…i just never got around to suggesting it
i
think it would be nice. and maybe how long they’ve owned the horse. This would be helpful
so we can know whether the owner has had it for more than six months if we’re considering
making an offer.
I’ve thought about adding
this, but (like everything else) haven’t had time yet.
The only slight complication in
this is how to track it, as when stables are deleted, their budgets are deleted as well, so
that would likely mess up some horses’ sales histories. (Not to mention that the horses
automatically revert to FF, FF doesn’t officially “buy” them, so that would be another
ocmplication.)
hmmm…couldn’t it be like
how the breeders line is. There are horses that have been bred by stables that have
disipated and they are still listed as the breeder. I think that it would be okay that FF
would be listed as an owner if the horse reverts back to FF. I’m thinking something simple
like just a list of where the horse has been and for how long…and if that seems simple see
how hard it would be impliment the sold amount. Thinking…
Like a sample would
be…
Born at Rainbow Ranch 4/05/2007
Sold to Cirque Du Soleil Stables 6/29/2009 -
$25,000
Sold to Stillwater 5/19/2010 - $50,000
Sold to Central Coast Lodge
7/04/2010 - $50,000
Sold to FF 10/30/2011 - $0
The $0 dollars could
indicate that the stable had either liquidated or has given the horse to
FF…thoughts?
P.S I used stables names as they came to me…
That’s because “Breeder” is
a constant for every horse, and is stored in the database. “5th Previous Owner” is not a
constant for every horse, and is not store in the database.
Plus, consider the following:
5 stables (A-E) own 1 horse throughout its life.
Stable A breeds the horse, sells it when
it’s 6mos old to Stable B.
Stable B owns the horse until he’s 2 1/2, then quits the game
and the horse reverts to FF.
Stable C joins and gets the horse as a starting horse, keeps
him until he’s 4.
Stable D buys the horse at auction before quitting, and the horse reverts
to FF again.
Stable E gets the horse as a starting horse.
If we go with "FF is the
default owner", then it would appear that the horse was owned by FF from 6mos-2 1/2, and age
4 to when Stable E joins. Given how FF races its horses (with no rhyme or reason ), it
would appear that FF owned him for 95% of his racing career, which would be a
misrepresentation of his racing ability (making him appear better if he had a
not-so-successful racing career, or worse if he had a successful career).
Well when Stable C joined
the line would be something like
Sold To Stable C for $0
(That would by default
mean he was a starter horse)
Am I understanding correctly??
Yes I see now about the
breeders line…not the same.
I think that if $0 dollars shows up in any of the
lines there would have to be an understanding that it didn’t mean he was given away but
either a starter horse, or part of a stable quiting.
Oh okay wait, with the info
you gave me this is how it would look in my idea.
Born at Stable A
Sold to Stable B
Sold
To FF
Sold To Stable C
SoldTo Stable D
Sold To FF
Sold To Stable E
I didn’t put in
dates cause that would take to long for now. I think that this feature would be used more
to see where the horse has been and for how long than to use as a value reference. Obviously
a starter horse won’t cost anything and a stable quitting isn’t going to “sell” the horse
to FF…What do you think?
No, since when a stable gets
deleted their budget does as well.
So the actual thing that would show up on the horse’s
page would be:
Bred by Stable A 1/1/06
Sold to FF 6/1/06
Sold to Stable C 1/1/07
Sold to
FF 1/1/08
Sold to Stable E 8/1/08
Also, regardless of
if/when/how this works out, prices would not be shown. It’s no one’s business but the
buyer & the seller what the horse sold for.
Oh okay…see I know nothing
about coding as you can tell. Why is it that if the stables budget is deleted that the
name will not be able to appear on the history page? And since there won’t be any prices on
the page anyway…oh man…lol. Do I just know too little?
Because the only way to
track who buys/sells a horse is with the budget transaction items. If new stables buy/sell a
horse and quit, then there is no transaction to use.
I don’t think it really
matters anyway…
Well it does cause then you
loose a whole place the horse has been. If a horse is at Stable C for 4 years then quits
those 4 years are lost. See Jason. But yes I see now…is there anyway around that??
No. At least none that we
care to implement at this point. Holly, it’s a cool idea, but drop it, wouldja?
Oh sorry, I just thought we
were discussing…dropped now…
