Famous Races 2023: Dirt

Public Enemy (Coleman Branch) wins Final Furlong’s Travers Stakes. It’s his first stakes win, and he needs one point to Champion title. Ch. Lord Percy (Gant’s Farm), the Kentucky Derby winner, finished 2nd.

In real life, Code of Honor won the Travers Stakes. He was 2nd in Kentucky Derby (after Maximum Security got disqualified). Tacitus, 2nd in Belmont Stakes and 3rd in Kentucky Derby, finished 2nd in the Travers.

Jockey Club Gold Cup is next. In real life it’s on September 28th.

In real life Jockey Club Gold Cup is this Saturday, and in the game it was today - Ch. Hot Cross Buns (Marshall Creek Ranch) is the winner. It’s the first stakes win this year for the lightly raced 5yo stallion.

Next big race is Australian Derby, two furlongs longer than the Jockey Club Gold Cup.

Code of Honor, the Travers Stakes winner, won the real life Jockey Club Gold Cup, after Vino Rosso got disqualified for interfering in the stretch.

Tacitus, who finished 3rd in this race, also ran in Travers Stakes, where he finished 2nd.

Pruchna’s amazing filly, NCh. Ancient Ghost, wins the Australian Derby. She won 9 Grade 1 races just this year! Including Preakness Stakes. She is first on Breeders’ Cup Qualifiers list for the Distaff. Obviously.

Queensland Derby, also in Australia, is next, and it’s the last one on my list of “famous races” on dirt.
