Happy New Year everyone! My stable page still shows that I have 40 yearlings and 34 weanlings but it’s 2022 already
This year I have an ambitious project to refresh my German… therefore babies will have German names. I probably don’t need to worry much about names being already taken.
As usual, I also name them alphabetically. We welcomed a beautiful colt and a filly this morning!
[color=blue]Aufeinander - handsome 9.1h dark bay colt by NCh. Space Chips, out of Ch. Crownette (Giant’s Causeway). First foal ever by our second stallion! Name means something like “one after another”. He’s the fourth foal from his dam, all bred by us.
Ch. Crownette goes to NCh. In The Navy next.
[color=red]Ängi - 9.1h dapple grey filly by WCh. Usain Bolt, out of NCh. Winter Queen (FFCh. Foolhardy). First foal from Winter Queen, and I’m obviously very excited about her. I used to own Winter Queen’s dam, which belongs now to Stillwater Farms, but we keep her younger colt bred by Clicker Lab and he’s already a stakes winner. Definitely a precious damline. Winter Queen had an amazing 2yo year, winning almost everything she entered. Then she slowed down as a 3yo but after that she found energy for another great year. Ängi is a geographical area in Switzerland… I think
The filly is 3x3 inbred to Highland Rogue, Chef-de-Race (I/C).
NCh. Winter Queen will be bred to our stallion NCh. Space Chips.
This filly is 2x2 inbred to Octagonal. When he retired I realized that he’s the sire of two of my favourite champion fillies, so I decided to strengthen his line at Clicker Lab… mainly by breeding to Quintet. I hope that this filly is not made of glass despite this close inbreeding. Lointaine was due this Thursday so the filly is born a few days early (while two other mares are overdue of course). This is her first foal and she’ll be bred to NCh. Space Chips next.
Blitzschnell means “quick as lightning, split-second”.
Second foal for this dam; her 2yo filly is consigned to the 2022 Annual 2yo Auction. We’re planning to breed Enyo to ICh. Starling next. Filly’s name means “thank you very much”.
[color=blue]CUXHAVEN
NCh. Al Mundhir x Ch. Ophelia - Class Act (S)
9.3h chestnut colt
Full brother to [color=blue]Cap’n Muncher (2021). Cuxhaven is a town in northern Germany, at the seaside. Ophelia will be bred to NCh. Space Chips this year.
The Blue Angel (German: Der blaue Engel) is a 1930 German tragicomedic film directed by Josef von Sternberg and starring Emil Jannings, Marlene Dietrich and Kurt Gerron. It is based on Heinrich Mann’s 1905 novel Professor Unrat (Professor Garbage) and set in Weimar Germany. The Blue Angel presents the tragic transformation of a respectable professor to a cabaret clown and his descent into madness. The film is the first feature-length German full-talkie and brought Dietrich international fame.
This filly is 3x3 inbred to GCh. Jazz It Up (gold ranked sire and broodmare sire) and 3x3 inbred to GCh. Set In Her Ways (platinum). She is the first foal for Razamatazz who we’d like to visit FFCh. Black Cherry next.
Me too! I was sometimes thinking of selling Razamatazz, as she was inconsistent on the track and I was getting impatient with her… but she did earn a Champion title eventually and she had that pedigree full of possibilities
Adriatic Swan will be bred to American Pharoah. This year we’re looking forward to her 2yo filly’s debut; [color=red]Entitled is from Al Mundhir’s first crop and might be ready for the racing game late spring.
[color=red]ELFRIEDE
NCh. Al Mundhir x Ch. Summer Romance (S) - WCh. Secret of Love (S)
9.2h bay filly
Summer Romance will be bred to our stallion NCh. Space Chips. Elfriede is 3x4 inbred to Secretariat, via damline. Named after Elfriede Jelinek, an Austrian playwright and novelist. She was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2004. I am not a big fan of her (especially of theatre plays based on her works), but she is very popular in one type of sophisticated theatrical niche. Also, Elfriede is a female given name, derived from Ælfþryð (Aelfthryth) meaning “elf-strength”. The name fell out of fashion in the Middle Ages and was revived in the 19th century in both England and Germany.
Damn. I’m really sorry to hear about your stillborn from Adriatic Swan. I still consider her one of the mares that got away before I realized her potential. Thank goodness she made it out ok and lives on to (hopefully) produce many more foals for you.
I purchased Bella as a yearling, and she wasn’t a superstar on the track but I wanted to breed her because her dam is a Reine-de-Course (S/P), which is quite rare. Bella did win over 10f but otherwise it was just an okay career. Bella is from my “Spanish themed” generation, and her filly’s name is a German translation of her own name; it means “miss sleepy”. I hope that the FFCh dad will give this girl some winning skills. Bella will be bred to NCh. Crafty Magic, because he adds some points for Solid distance. Hopefully we have some stamina in this line.
