CDS 2014 Foaling Season

Thanks guys.  Yeah, def hard. I think we’re going to wait to breed her early next year so we can get her on an earlier schedule so maybe a blessing in disguise…lol…yeah not really.

Healthy foaling this time. Yay!

[color=blue]Whiled Eclipse (GCh. Worth My While (G) X Eclipse This (B))
8.2h Light Bay Colt
This colt should turn out to be pretty nice.  Both parents are 100% winner producers and with Worth My While’s reputation thus far Whiled Eclipse (Get it…Wild Eclipse! lol.) shouldn’t be an exception.   Handsome little boy.

5 foals left for the year!!  Including the Golden Princess foal who we are painfully waiting for.

“Including the Golden Princess foal who we are painfully waiting for.”

It’s showing that Golden Princess is retired through your stable page…??

Congrats on the cute colt though. Neat name

Right, retired mares do still have a chance to have their foals…hope he or she turns out alright considering we lost her 2012 foal.  :frowning:

And thank you by the way.

They do, but only on the day they retire. It’s basically the scenario of: “This mare has gotten too old to be a broodmare. She’s X months pregnant already, so there’s a chance she’ll just foal early and then retire, and there’s a chance that she’ll abort the foal and retire.” So if no baby appeared the day she retired, it means she lost the foal due to retirement. (That happens if the retirement date is too early for a premie baby, basically, so if she’s only 8 months pregnant or something when she’s due to retire, there’s no way the baby can survive.)

In GP’s case, she retired in March, and couldn’t have been due before May (based on her 2014 foal), so the code wouldn’t have handled that premature a birth. Sorry. :frowning:

That sucks…:frowning:

Well, just FYI in that case, when you did temporarily fix the “broodmares not if foal” bug a while back it did show her as “still in foal” even after her retirement.  Also, I haven’t got any stillborn foals from her yet…

#@$#$@#&%^$%…

Our (Nightfight X Make Me Lucky) colt was found dead in foaling stall today…

So that’s 4 dead foals this season…the most we’ve had by %50.
No wait that’s wrong…it would be 100% because I lost 2 last year.

I’m really sorry to hear that…  :-\  Seems like luck is definitely playing favorites this year, because some people are getting it REALLY rough this time around…

Yeah I noticed.
It was also the second foal in a row to die of Nightfights.  Very disapointing…

Thank you for the thoughts though.

A couple of n ew fillies to introduce thankfully…

[color=red]Frolic With Flames (My Lucky Day X Black Flames)
8.2h Dark Bay filly
We couldn’t be more excited about this little filly.  We just hope she turns out as good on the track as her lines tell us she will. Her dam is out of the blue blood mare, Playing With Fire, and is out of one of my favorite stallions, The Black.  We chose to breed her to My Lucky Day with his gaining popularity.  Couldn’t ask for better dam lines in PWF and Miss Hayday and CDR grandsires to boot!  She’s a pretty little thing.

And we decided to redeem our points for a weaning filly this year.  Luckily she was already born in April so she’s been introduced to the rest of the herd and seems to be taking it all in at the moment.  Golden Princess seems to have taken to her since she lost her inutero foal earlier this year.
[color=red]Circuit Line (Created)
10.1h Liver Chestnut Filly
Four white stockings and a blaze!  Flashy little thing to say the least.

Good to hear they arrived safe and sound. I’ve had three stillborn this year (out of 44 expected).

Thanks Jason. Hope the rest of the year goes well for you.

As for me CDS is starting to wrap up the year.  Our third to last was born today strong and healthy.
Introducing…

[color=blue]Hell’s Train (ICh. Devil His Due X Telltheconductor)
9.1h Dapple Grey Colt
None of her foals have really raced yet so there’s not much to tell here except he is a super pretty boy like his momma.  We are also please to notice that it seems Devils’ foals aren’t being born super tiny.

2 more to go this year!

P.S. Is that where the apostrophe should go in Hell’s Train?  Or should it be after the, “S”, like this, Hells’ Train?

Assuming you mean something along the lines of “a train that is in Hell”, then Hell’s Train is correct. Hells’ Train would be a train belonging to someone named Hells.

LOL…that sounds really funny put in layman’s terms.  And thank you for the help.

After some initial confusion it turns out that Golden Princess did not loose her foal this year!  After fracturing her cannon and ankle the vet was almost sure that the foal had been lost (must have been super drunk!).  After intensive treatment and healing she was aloud to hobble around in a small grass pen and eat grass for the last couple months (assuming her belly was just the result of being a broodmare).  She’s been steadily improving when all the sudden she started showing signs of labor…HOLY COW!
The staff was scurrying around trying to gather anything we might need because this birth would most certainly be a hard one considering her ordeal.  After laying down we coaxed her into staying down so not to aggravate her leg.  Being the good broodmare she is she didn’t fight and was able to push out a beautiful baby boy without any complications!! Circuit Line, who has been taken care of by Golden Princess since she arrived is a little confused but is taking to her new little brother and seems to be curious.  So with that all said we are proud to introduce…

[color=blue]Ring Of Gold (ICh. Ring Of Fire (S) X Golden Princess (S))
9.3h Bay colt
This little guy will be the talk of the farm for a while.  Not only is he lucky we are lucky as well because the loss of this foal was/would have been devastating.  He’s double silver bred and is half to 2 MSW, 1 SW, and multi winners.  Brother, Irish Gold, is two stake wins away from being studified.  We felt the Pink Princess lines would mesh well with ROF.  Ring Of Gold has a 3/4 sibling in Taste of Love who is a winner in 3 starts as a 2yo.  Good sign for this boy!  So we are all going to go back to the barn and make sure GP’s leg isn’t flaring up and hopefully make it back to the house for a drink of champagne to celebrate this amazing arrival.

On a side note:
Super funny the way things work out, since GP has adopted Circuit Line it’s like she has twins again.  Super awesome that she already has experience with raising twins!

Our last baby arrived today!

[color=red]Stagelight (WCh. Nightfight X NCh. Hollywood Mystery (B))

Super happy to finally get a filly out of Hollywood Mystery!  This was her fourth foal and first filly.  So far we have her 3yo Ch. Hollyworth stakes placed and she’s starting to build her breed ranking.  We think she may have inherited and is passing on that late maturing gene so we may have to wait a few years to see her foals real abilities. Anyway Stagelight is a beautiful grey filly just like her momma and we are so happy to have her healthy…Lord knows we were worried!  She was due back on the 8th!

And that wraps up our breeding season…

40 foals
20 colts and 20 fillies!
2 retired mares
3 foals lost

Okay so I was looking through my weanlings today…you know just to check on everyone… then I looked a bit farther out in the pasture and saw what looked like a full sized horse running through my weanling field.  After shaking a bit of grain to get a closer look at this imposter I immediatly realized it was Hopes Wish!!  He was one of our first foals this year in January and has already sprouted to a massive 14.3h!  Can’t wait to see how big he gets next year!
Just thought I’d share.

Send some of that grain to [color=red]TrumpetOfTheSwan. She’s still just 9.2H.  ::)

Awe, well she was a May baby.  She’s got a bit of an excuse.

I just brought this one finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=6044 simply because she is still only 14.3h and 3 years old, going to stick her in the back paddock and she if she grows  ;D
