Hi guys,
Don’t know if any of you will be interested, but there is a new horseracing game coming out for PS2 and Xbox. It’s called Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. Looks really cool. Here’s a link if anyone wants to check it out.

Already on my “to buy” list. It does look pretty neat.
So far I’ve got Gallop Racer 2004 to feed my visual horse racing addiction, but the Breeder’s Cup game should be excellent. Though I’m a bit annoyed at not being able to name my own foals whatever I want. Not sure accurate race calling is worth that much to me.
I have an older version of Gallop Racer. It’s a great game. I think it will be great to have Tom Durkin calling the races. He is by far my favorite announcer. I’m looking foward to getting this one. And the addiction continues.
I would buy it, but Im saving up for a PS3 lol. Maybe my mom will get it for me
I’m planning on getting the BC game as well. I can’t resist good horseracing games.
Yay, spending more money!
Yea, I have GR2001, 2003, 2004.
Another really great game, Grade I Jockey. Hard to find, but worth it!
There is another one coming out on all consols [I think, maybe just PS] that is called ‘Melbourne Cup Challenge’ or ‘Frankie Dettorie Racing Challenge’ [or something] depending on which hemisphere you live in. Exciting hey? Bout time they gave us some good games! Not uber-cheesy like Gallop Racer - which I love, but 40 seasons is a little boring now…
That only helps if you live in Aus or Europe, Jase. Apparently the other 50% of the globe isn’t lucky enough to get the game.
Yeah, Gallop Racer’s graphics are a little to cartoonish, thats why I like GI Jockey, very nice graphics.
LOL, ya I’m probably around that many seasons myself on Gallop Racer. The Melbourne Cup game sounds cool also. I’ll have to look for that one.
I love Gallop Racer, but one thing I don’t like too much is the European “feel” to the game (at least in my version it is like this). Too many Turf races, not enough Dirt races. Plus, if I’m not mistaken, you will be able to race some famous horses such as Seabiscuit and Man O’War in the BC game.
I reckon a cool game would be one incorporating that World Series Championship. I’m pretty sure they could make a cool global schedule to use. I think Gallop Racer is modeled slightly on it, but yeah, GR is really boring now…
Well, I reserved my copy today, not coming out over here in Jersey till the 28th. I’m suspicious…only 19.99…very cheap for what a great game they are saying it is, well we’ll have to see.
I reserved mine at EB last night… They claimed it was only $14.99. I told 'em that was wrong but they said that if I paid for it while it was $15 they had to sell it to me at $15 if they figured out it was later, so I figured I’d go along with that .
I imagine/hope it’s so cheap because there’s just not a big audience for horse racing games. I mean, I’d have a hard time convincing myself to pay more than $30 for it and I like video games and horses
Yea, I imagine that must be it, loooking at the game it seems like they put A LOT into it. I went to the local Game Stop and reserved it, on my receipt it says NTRA Beeter’s Cup.
i own all the Gallop Racer games…^^ but that’s all i’ve been able to find here in the middle of nowhere. I saw this game on a web site somewhere and said “i must have this” but alas…my brother dropped my PS2 down the stairs about a month ago -crys, and falls to her knees- why! it looks like such a good game.
Oo Oo… Did you guys know the game also came out for the Xbox? I don’t have the money to send buying a PS2… but my brother has an xbox, so thats the way I gotta go! I’m excited! … I just realized we’re all nuts lol
Found two people who got the game…here’s what they think about it.
Ew, that sounds terrible. Here’s hoping Melbourne Cup Challenge is better!
I’d rather play a new game than keep playing Gallop Racer, so I’m still looking foward to getting this one. Hopefully, I’ll be a bit more impressed than the two people we heard from.
Yea, who knows how much we’ll like it until we get it. I think also both of those are the X-Box versions. PS2 probably won’t be alot different but who knows. They also say this is going to be a series, and it’s the first one, gotta try it out and support the game so the next ones will be better.
