Well, if it is a series then I hope it gets alot better. I haven’t played it yet since I dont own it now. I hope that the game is as fun as I thought it would be though. I absolutely love my Gallop Racer 2001 and I hope that this game is somewhat similar. I’m a little angry that you can’t just sit back and just watch your horse though since I’m not too good at being a jockey.
Just found some graphics for Fankie Dettori/Melbourne Cup Challenge. Breathtaking…

Obviously it is getting released over in Australia first, finally you get something before the rest of us. I know eventually it will be headed for the US.
Not sure there’s much/any talk of it getting released in the US, though I suppose it’s possible. Right now it’s Europe/Australia. Though you should be able to import the PC version from Europe/Australia if you wanted. Maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll bring it over. Took forever for us to get any horse racing games seems like.
A friend of mine just received hers and I was over to play it. It was ugly…
The graphics are great…that’s about where the good stuff ends. Tom Durkin’s call sucks, the racing is to easy, you can only whip when the game says you can. Even the race reviewer is bad, rather than the ‘television’ view that you are supposed to get you get views that jump around, so you basically have no idea what is going on.
It’s now obvious why the game was so cheap. It’s very disappointing that a game coming straight from the NTRA can be so lacking. They really should have reviewed the game with consultants to make it the best it could be rather than rushing to get it out before this years BC. This game had so much potential, very disappointed.
Look at this game, it looks awesome! This is what I always wanted in a racing game but of course it’s in japanese
(make sure to scroll all the way down, there’s some awesome pics towards the bottom)
That is gorgeous. And a shame it’s japanese . Just looking at the pictures seems like it reminds me of a game that was out ages ago (much less pretty graphics, but we’re talking like 10 years ago)… Think it was Quarter Pole? And then there was a quasi-sequal that had better graphics but was less fun to play… Anyone remember what I’m talking abt?
That game is absolutely awsome looking! Here’s hoping that they might possibly put it into a different language. It looks like everything I want out of a horse racing game.
Wow that’s beautiful! I hope they translate it and send it to the US!
Nice screenshots! I recognise a couple of the Australian tracks in the Frankie Dettorie one!
I was just wondering, has anyone got Gallop Racer 2003, also know as Attheraces Presents Gallop Racer?
I’m asking with reference to breeding… I have been trying and trying to breed a horse that is born ‘SS’ or even ‘S’. Everything that pops out so far is just ‘A’ level than gets upgraded at some stage during 2-Y-O or 3-Y-O year to ‘S’. It is really irritating my horses aren’t coming out higher than ‘A’! Especially when both parents are ‘SS’ or ‘SS’ cross ‘S’ [most of my ‘SS’ bought mares retire with only ‘S’ for some reason]! I get 90+ every training when they’re 2-Y-O. It is driving me C-R-A-Z-Y!
I’d love it if anyone had some advice!
the japanese game looks amazeing… i hope they translate it, or come out with an american one like it…
No worries Jei Once we kidnap Toshiya he can translate it for us
And even if he escapes, we can pretend we know what we’re doing and play it anyhow.
I googled it, just to see if there was any mention of a future US/english version. Didn’t find any, but man, the prices for that game are insane! The “special limited edition” is $120 US, and the basic version is $60…that’s way more than any normal new game costs here, so I kinda hope that if they do eventually decide on another version, they’ll lower the prices a bit. The game looks good, but not that good.
It’s a shame Koei never released WP7 in english. Though i heard it got some pretty bad reviews and wasn’t very popular over in Japan, why I don’t know. I know a couple people who bought the game despite the japanese language and have managed to play it. I’m thinking of doing the same since the BC game has turned out to be such a let down.
If anyone wants a game semi-similar to WP7 you can try G1 Jockey 3. Unfortunately it has no breeding in the game but there are tons of real horses and the racing is quite nice. Graphics are good looking also, identical to those of WP7.
The really nice thing about G1J3 is that you can tell who the famous horses are. Sunday Science/Sunday Silence, Rudiaro/Rubiano, Cigarillo/Cigar, Azel/Azeri. It kept me amused for quite a while and was only $20, plus it is in ENGLISH!
Yeah, I’m always rather amused by the opening disclaimer of all of the people, places, and horses being products of the developers’ imaginations.
And G1J3 would be perfect if you could breed, ideally own horses too (though I have yet to see a game that allows you to own and ride), buy/sell, and do workouts/races in jockey mode.
Maybe someday I’ll get around to creating such a game myself.
We can only hope
If you do, can I take a year off from real work and do that with you instead of messing with this excel crap?
 Edea perfact Plan!
Thanks Shianthi for looking it up ^^ -gives cookies- but $60 dollars that better be a dang good game, though i do have a question about what make the Limited special edittion…so specian to be $120…wow just wow… hmm the graphics look cool…but most of them look like still pictures (other than the raceing)… it may be just me but i like the GR series the graphics might not be all the great… but i still like it… I’ve been playing GR2001 for 4 years…and i still haven’t made #1 jocky…nor have any of my horse won a derby, or anything special i i think i have beaten my Rival maybe 5 times, and all but one of my horses, and My own breed from past horses. one day! I started a new Game (after getting a new PS@ from my cusin…^^ i love her) and in my first year i got 8th place Jocky…3 rather well horse… I think we should have a section for Raceing Video Games where we can discuss how we are doing…or how well we are not, and get help from players with the same game…o.O ok i’ll stop talking now, -.- it’s my web design class right now and the Teachers server killed it self…;-; so we can’t do anything untill she fixes it…
Wow, thats a super duper expensive game. I already have to save up for a new sexy laptop for gaming and a new show horse ;-; And I get no christmas gifts now cause my mom is buying me an i-pod and we’re poor
Sure. We can just hang out and code and play with graphics and stuff. With plenty of breaks to go play with real horses, of course. (Assuming I drag Emma to Raleigh, or acquire a horse down there, or something)
And that I then subsequently or concurrently acquire a horse, yeah yeah. But hey, by the time this might happen you’ll own your breeding farm and we can sit on the front porch in rocking chairs with lemonade while we code wirelessly on laptops, right?
Bah, that did not make me want to actually do real work
Hey, if I’m lucky I’ll be able to do the freelance/work-from-home thing in a few years and then I can start on the breeding farm thing.
And you’d better believe that wherever I live I’ll have wireless up the wazoo. Maybe I’ll invent a wireless gizmo for riding, too…equine GPS or something.
