Activity will be sporadic coming soon

We bought a house and are closing on it on may 15th and will then have to move, change over cable etc. etc. for the last two weeks of may , so for those two weeks my activity may be very sporadic at best, i am going to try to get cable hooked up asap due to the kids staying out of the way if they have tv to watch. lol
i am so excited this is our first house of our very own and i am filled with lots of decorating ideas. they are still finishing it up so we had to wait a couple extra weeks to get the keys. unfortunately its not in the country so no live horses. POUTS  at least i have FF!!! and DF!! lol and my own game. so i can live vicariously thru them. lol
anyhow just thought id let you know things are going to be crazy the next few weeks packing and moving. wish me luck, from Another Horse enthusiast, Carole “Grace”

Congrats on getting a house, and good luck with moving.

Congrats on your new house!

Congrads on your new house! How exciting! We just made an offer on a house last night, hopefully it’ll be accepted and then we’ll be in the same boat as you…moving. ugh. Best of luck on a stress-free move!

Congrats to everyone on their new or soon to be new houses.  I went through it last year and one of my friends just bought a house so I remember very well how exciting it is (and how much of a headache it becomes).

But it’s a fun sort of headache!

yeah so far it hasnt been too bad and its just about ten minutes down the road so it isnt like we have to hire anyone to move us. the kids will change schools but they dont care. lol. they are so used to moving around they just want to be in their own rooms that they can decorate how they want and not have to have white white white , lol.
I wish you luck we had a back and forth thing with ours , we made one offer they countered it and we offered something else and they accepted the second one. So thank goodness it wasnt too much of a headache. transfering the cable, etc is going to be the pain as we have the lease on this house til may 31 and get the keys to  the new one on the 15th.so will have two power and water bills for those two weeks. ICK.
im just so excited i want to go now!!!  oh and i will have a 4th bedroom so i have a room for all my model horses (breyers and peter stone)and craft and art stuff !!! no more storage for the poor things. ;D ;D

Yay for your new house! And yaaaay for an extra room for storage. Congrats.

ty all , i am soooooooooooo not looking forward to packing and unpacking , at least this time its not to another country . lol (hub is USAF) so we only have to throw stuff in the truck. heh :stuck_out_tongue:

Well we offered thier asking price if they’d pay the closing costs and how did they reply…not really a counter, just saying they’d raise the price of the house to include the closing costs…basically we pay the closing costs as part of our mortgage. The fact that they were unwilling to budge is so frustrating(not even a counter with ok…1/2 the cosing costs or something!). The house has been sitting on the market for over a month and a nearby nearly identical one sold and was listed as about 5k under what we offered. Our real estate agent told us to wait a bit and verbally told them the offer still stands so hopefully they change their minds(even their real estate agent advised them to take it). My only bit of happiness in this is its costing them about $25/day in interest not accepting our offer.  >:D

Wish us luck on our cute little cottage home!(its freakin’ adorable!)

yeah they did that to us too , we asked them to pay closing and they wanted to raise the price from 208 to 216, we were like no way are we paying cloing costs in a mortgage payment , thats like $30k in 30 yrs, rediculous. so we said well you give us this and this and we will do closing costs, and to extend the date of taking possesion due to our lease here. and they finally agreed. so dont get down, if they want to really sell it they will come to a compromise eventually!!

We also went a couple rounds with various houses we liked trying to get closing costs included.  We put in offers on like 2 houses before we got an acceptable counter from someone.  We offered 2k less than asking + them paying 2k in closing and they countered with full price plus 2k in closing (we already had closing money from our mortgage co because he was a “preferred lender” on another house we’d put an offer in on).  So all told we got 4k I think in closing?  Right now I’m enjoying watching how much the same floor plan sells for in our cookie-cutter subdivision .

yeah i know what you mean this house was not even carpeted or had anything but a slab when we went to look, the guy was just finishing up the painting and sweeping it up for the flooring , and like you said they are all basically the same outside i think there are 6 -8 dif outside frontals, and most have the same floor plans inside. but the cheaper ones like $189 were teeny tiny. i dont know how they do it , no kids or animals i guess. lol. i wanted a farm out in the country with a two horse stable etc. but hub kept finding things wrong with it. blah so we are in town but sort of in the suburbs, so not on any main roads. Just dont let it get to you, i got fed up after 2 weeks of searching and just happened upon this one. it was the only one he and i agreed we liked, so we took it. we took out an advance on his retirement to pay off most of our bills and have the closing costs too, so i know what you mean , those are freakin killer!!! ours come to around $8k total  :-\

well we sign for our house the tuesday 15th and i am getting so wound up, i hate moving, am having nightmares of leaving stuff behind. lol
anyhow i am not sure how quickly i can get cable turned on but we will be moving from this house to ours from the 15th thru the 24th . I need to get the cable guy to put in a box on the outside of the house and wire 4 rooms, i dont know why they only put in two outlets when they built it , kinda stupid if you ask me!!!
Anyway , i am trying to get things organzied as fast as i can so i dont miss anything, and get things moved asap.
and thanks all for the good wishes!!

well we are in the new house and unpacking is almost as bad as packing now where do i put everything, lol. i have things running but will still be off an on for the next week or so.

Good luck unpacking.   I still have a couple of boxes of books lying around (waiting for me to buy more bookcases in which to put them.)

We still have boxes a year later as well.  Recently I’ve been giving my husband hard nudges to at least move everything to plastic tubs so we can stack stuff easily.  It’s amazing the amount of crap we have that we don’t really need/want and yet don’t want to get rid of…

lol my hub is the neat freak , and i take my time, we  had to buy two bookcases for all our books, his stephen king books and my sci-fi, historical romance, history books, egytian, and of course all my horse books which take up a LOT of space. lol oh and a new entertainment center , now he wants a new tv to go in it. MEN!!! they never grow up just the price of their toys get more expensive!!! lol

and i know what you mean about needing those bins , they sure do come in handy. what we need to do asap is make up a hurricane kit before the season hits. i dont like to be unprepared, being military they make us evacuate , but i always want to have everything needed just in case. we were here back in 95 for a bad season, but it seems like i never had time to get out to the stores.

anyhow our house is lovely, i will post some pictures , i just need to take some good ones now that we have  a lawn and no realty sign in the front lawn. and its sooooooooo quiet i love it, we have a small retention pond out back for storm rains and we have tons of frogs singing the night away and lil green tree frogs all over the outside of the house , the kids love it.

anyhow i should be back in the swing of things next week hopefully. lol
thanks for the encouragement, its much appreciated !!!

Hm. Moving. Luckily that’s something I’ve never experienced! Kudos to you!

I can relate with your husband. Of course, I’m only sixteen and female, but I like the big expensive electronic toys =) But then again, my dad always comes up with the idea (“Oh, you know what, why don’t you just deal with your current dressers (Mum wanted to get me black furnishings. Currently have a cherry wood tall dresser and a red and white one from my sister’s room -.- lol) and go online and look up TVs? I’ll buy you a bigger TV” and then and then! “Well, pick one. For your birthday do you want a new computer or a BB Gun?” Couldn’t resist the BB Gun…)

But anyway =) I guess it really is my dad, so… MEN! :stuck_out_tongue:

What state are you in? I only ask because you mentioned hurricanes and hurricane season, so that makes me think Florida or Louisiana or something like that. But then again, we had a huge hurricane watch a couple weeks ago and I’m in Massachusetts… So I guess you can’t really escape them lol.

originally i am from Maine , but hub joined the air force when we married, and have been moving around for the past 15 years, this is our first home of our own.
and yes we are in the panhandle of florida, on the gulf of mexico, we lived here ten yrs ago and went thru several bad hurricanes (opal 95) but always knew we wanted to come back here to retire.
he still has quite a few years but we took the chance when it came up to come back, its called panama city florida its a big spring break destination . lots and lots of traffic then. ick

Maine is awesome. My family goes there every year on vacation. It’s SO nice there.

But Florida! Hurricanes or not, I’m jealous. I’ve never been to Florida =( The only nice state I’ve been to is California. I mostly stay around MA bordering states (except for Maine and NJ). Bleh. But hey, at least I get out =)

Well, congrats on the new house and I hope the hurricanes stay away from you!
