I love this day!
Fortunately, all broodmares waited until January with their babies and we have started the 2017 breeding season with a cute little filly born today.
[color=red]Liligresa - 9.2h brown filly with pretty markings. By silver rated WCh. What’s Debatable, out of created mare Lord of Mercy. This filly is mainly bred for sprint and classic distances on dirt. “Liligresa” is a Spanish word for a female hybrid of a lion and a liger, which is a hybrid cross of a lion and a tigress. The first liligre was born last year in Novosibirsk, Russia.
Lord of Mercy will be auctioned in April (but message me if you want to buy her earlier).
I didn’t know that a lion can be crossed with tiger at all I was just looking for something that happened for the first time and starts with L and in Spanish of course!
All girls so far! Today morning we were greeted by two healthy fillies.
[color=red]Cajoled Chant - 10.0h dark bay filly with two socks, star and stripe. By War Chant, out of created Cajoled Halo. Actually, I bred this filly just for her name so as an exception she is not named in Spanish and I hope that she will do something more than being pretty. Of course I love her real-life sireline, and dam has a steeplechase speed record.
Cajoled Halo will be auctioned in April (but message me if you want to buy her earlier). Think of the naming possibilities!
[color=red]Sol y Sombra - 8.3h bay filly with nice markings. By Smart Strike (Mr. Prospector), out of Bold Eclipse (NCh. Boldness Shows). Dam has speed records on longer distance, dirt and turf. Sol y Sombra is an after dinner alcoholic drink well known in Madrid, consisting of equal parts brandy and anise dulce (sweet anise or anisette) served in a brandy snifter. The name comes from the Spanish words for sun and shade and refers to different types of seats one can purchase at bullfights. As the drink is a combination of the dark brandy (sombra) and the clear anise (sol) we get the name Sol y Sombra.
Finally Clicker Lab has a foal too! He waited more than a week longer… this is only the second colt bred by Clicker Lab, ever! The other one is [url=http://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=23630][color=blue]Popocat
Thanks! And today the last of early January foals was born a fourth filly.
[color=red]Salamandra - 8.3h dark bay filly with a star and sock. By real-life stallion Smart Strike (Mr. Prospector), out of Ch. Snugasabuginarug (created). The real Smart Strike has sired many champions, including Curlin, Lookin At Lucky and My Miss Aurelia. I claimed Snugasabuginarug early last year, while she belonged to Final Furlong, and this is her first foal.
Ch. Snugasabuginarug will be bred to NCh. Bellagio. He didn’t impress as a 2yo sire (except MSW filly Ch. Coquette) so I hope that his offspring will get better with time!
One very early foal… but how precious! This is a second foal out of created broodmare that joined the game with me. Yet another filly to continue the bloodline
[color=red]Pintoresca - 8.0h blood bay filly with three socks. So similar to her mum! She’s by ICh. Take Me Away (Cigar), out of Por Amor Al Arte (created). Sire’s offspring will probably improve this year as 3yo’s, so we’ll see if there are any stars. Pintoresca means “picturesque” in Spanish.
Por Amor Al Arte will be bred to ICh. Demand the Best.
And another little foal is here. Of course it’s a filly, because we get (almost) only fillies at Clicker Lab.
[color=red]Envuelta - a large 10.0h filly bred by Black Storm West. She’s brown with star, stripe, and snip. By new stallion GCh. Mantle of Power (Seattle Slew, Highland Rogue lines), out of Island Hopping (created). It’s another dirt runner, possibly longer distance. Her dam has two colts at racing age. Envuelta means “wrapped”.
Thanks! And finally we have a boy I’m glad because I like this pedigree.
[color=blue]Alybello - 8.1h little black colt with stripe and three socks. By ICh. Alley Cat, out of Beautiful Distrctn (Easy Street). This boy is 2x4 inbred to Alydar (I). Beautiful Distrctn has seven foals, of which we own her 3yo colt Beautiful Romance (by Gunningdownromance). All of her racers are winners, one is stakes placed. I wanted the colt’s name to be somehow related to Alydar, and “bello” means “beautiful” in Spanish.
Beautiful D goes to Marshall Creek Ranch in exchange for [color=red]Ch. Ayi, which will be bred to Rock of Gibraltar for her 2018 foal.
