Wood, Carter, Melbourne

Well we have GI treble

coming up in a couple of days - Wood Memorial, Carter Handicap and Melbourne Cup. Is there a

Derby winner in the Wood? Is there a European Triple Crown contender in the Carter? And can

the young colt take on the big boys again in the Cup? Also, the Chatham Stakes looks like an

awesome race. Plus, the two big jumps mares Jazz’ed and Clendon Park, take on the boys in

separate races. And also 2YO’s run again. Shaping up to be a great day of racing!

Does

anyone have any early thoughts yet?

No particular order…

Expecting some Final Furlong entries to possibly make up numbers.

Wood

Memorial

Gotta Go won his first race this year

last start in the Godolphin Mile, Gr.2. Looks good to give this

a good go, he’s had good form leading into it.
Chivalry ran

fifth last start in the Victoria Derby, Gr.1. Won the C.S. Hayes

Stakes, Gr.3, earlier in the year. Don’t rate him highly in

this.
Duplicate Copy is possibly the top dirt 3YO this year.

Beat class field in the UAE Derby, Gr.2, last start. Doesn’t

need an introduction and is the one to beat again.
Crusader was

fifth in the UAE Derby, Gr.2. He won the MV Vase,

Gr.2, prior to that run. Hard to see him winning against this

field. Place chance.
Mocashment is the bridesmaid of the field.

Was second in the UAE Derby, Gr.2. Hasn’t won since 2YO year,

but expect him to be in the finish.
As You Wish is probably the

main threat. Was third in the UAE Derby, Gr.2, last start. Prior

to that he won the Robinson Stakes, Gr.2. Has won two other

stakes this year. Will give this an honest effort.

Cater

Handicap

Apollo was sixth last start in the

UAE Derby, Gr.2. Has run second this year in two decent stakes.

Hard to see him winning his first in this.
American Starz was

fifth in the Dubai Duty Free, Gr.1 last start. Has been racing

older horses all year and won two stakes along the way. Will enjoy

this.
Prince Of Wonder was third last start in the Victoria

Derby, Gr.1. Nice consistent record this year including two

stakes. Will appreciate the drop in distance.
Domestic Dispute

won last start in the Cicada Stakes, Gr.3. Has a very solid

record this year, but this is his toughest test to date.

Melbourne

Cup

Foolhardy was a gallant second last start

in the Dubai Duty Free, Gr.1. Only concern is distance, but he

did win the Caulfield Cup, Gr.1. Will give his all as

usual.
Temptation trailed the field when last in the Dubai Duty

Free, Gr.1. Prior to that he won the Flag Down Stakes,

U.. Will be competitive if he can get to two

miles.
Cutlass was fifth in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup,

Gr.2, last start. Prior to that he won the Winning Edge Stakes,

Gr.2. This is a classy field and he’ll need to be top

notch.
Witness is another class 3YO this year. Was fourth in

the Dubai Duty Free, Gr.1. Cox Plate,

Gr.1, winner who will be in the finish if he can get the

distance.

GOOD LUCK

EVERYONE! ESPECIALLY WITH YOUR 2YO RACERS!
