Just had to share my excitement (as I’m scaring the dogs by dancing around)…
I’ve booked my flight to London!
I’ll be leaving Thursday, Feb 4, which is only 19 days away!
Technically I booked a round trip ticket, since I’m still not sure yet how I’m going to get my pets over there (I can choose from a few expensive options , and am still figuring out which might involve the least expense/hassle). If I don’t go back to fetch my pets, I’ll either use the second leg to come back and visit people (yay) or give it all up if I don’t find a job (boo).
Anyway, I’m not sure how active I’ll be with FF when I first get there as I’m going to be beating the streets looking for a job. In the meantime, though I’m hoping to knock out some features (ideally flat/SC swapping and FF-based stables). We’ll see, though.
He did, amazingly! I drove down to NC earlier this week to finalize some things, and he showed up as we drove in. My dog and I were very happy/surprised to see him. I’ve been trying to shove a ton of food into him since, because he looks rather skeletal, but seems to be in good shape otherwise.
have the laws changed on quarantines yet? I know they were working on getting them changed when we lived there in the late 90’s , it was really excessive to take a pet thats had its shots since it was weeks old and make them stay in quarantine for 6 months, a friend of ours almost lost their dog , he was really skinny and not doing well by the time the 6 months was up, thank god they got him back to his normal self but it took a while. otherwise here in the older countries you can take them in some restaurants with you , in rooms, etc, they really consider them family . Feb is a pretty good month to get there, a lot of wind that time of year tho, considering its pretty flat in a lot of places, lol. hope you have a good flight, i reccommend taking a full size pillow with you for comfort , it makes a big difference. best of luck, Carole
Yes, the US was put on the list of approved countries to do at-home quarantine in 2005, I think. Both my boys are cleared to skip quarantine once they get there, though getting them there will be very pricey!
yes i know the price, even tho we flew a military flight this last time , it cost nearly $200 for our 30lb dog one way. and that was with the military prices. I wish you well tho , they become like our kids and i was not about to leave her behind, as im sure you feel about your guys
hope all goes well for you, pretty scary changing countries but at least the language won’t be a major problem!
February is one of our worst months for weather, usually cold, damp and rainy, often with a thin wind that goes through you! Spring and Summer though are lovely (if we get them, some years they don’t bother to show )
Welcome to the UK for 9/2/10
