Anywho, I have been gone for a little while because…
My mom put in wireless internet!
Now, because my computer is a Mac laptop, it was being all finicky about routers, etc. BUT, my mom went to Geek Squad and got one that goes with my computer and hers, which is a Windows (Vista/HP/whatever the heck it is… Don’t know windows anymore!). I’m seriously excited because now I don’t have to play FF while sitting in the middle of the hallway in front of the kitchen (Yaaayyyy )! So…
Just wondering, but… Any other FF players out there who use wireless? And if so, who is your wireless connection through (we use Road Runner now, but we used to use Bellsouth)?
As I said, this is just me being nosy, and I’m interested to see how many people have this already (my mother said she feels like she’s part of the “new age” now, with all its newfangled contraptions ).
I have wireless internet and it is amazing!! I think we use ptd but I am not sure about that! I am always happy when i can go to sum place and just play in private(my brothers are very nosy). That is funny about ur mom feeling like she is in the new age because my mom made a comment like that too when we first got ours!!
I do not have a notebook but I currently use wireless. My modem is in the kitchen and my comp is in the livingroom…less wires…so mine is wireless by usb and by telus
I have a wireless network in my house. We use Embarq (got a special deal for Local phone, Long Distance, Internet and Satellite - DishNetwork). I’m very happy with it.
My family has cable internet through Comcast (rotten, rotten, rotten–it goes down frequently). I know virtually nothing about this topic, but we have it wireless though an AirPort hub (it networks all of our computers and printers to each other and the internet wirelessly–yes, we’re geeks). AirPort is by Apple, so our Macs have no problems going on.
However, when I was living in the dorms, my Mac hopped right on the school’s wireless networks with no problems. Come to think of it… I’ve never had an issue with either my Macbook or my iPhone when it comes to getting on wireless networks at home, school, work, Starbucks, etc. I find it interesting that you had problems with yours.
Anyhow, welcome to the world where you have the freedom to say “Hey Mom, look at this!” and carry your computer to the other side of the house without a care in the world. I drive my family nuts.
I know very little about what the “norm” is for wireless hopping, but as my mac is a Powerbook G4 and is roughly four years old now (and has 1 GB on its harddrive and in its day cost more than my mom’s new Windows, which has 3 GB AND a built-in web-cam, AND 60 days of trials with over a hundred games… insert teeth gnashing here) I’m not all that surprised that my computer is having some issues. Apparently, the guy who put in the wireless said that it is recommended that you have at LEAST 2 GB on your harddrive, but… oh well
There IS a way to get 1 GB added to my computer but it’s a little over $100…
… -dies- NOW ya tell me? Or well, NOW I log in and find out ( lol)…
I JUST got back from Best Buy (seriously, we walked in the door about half an hour ago) and the Geek Squad guys fixed my computer up with 2 GB!!! YAY I don’t have to wait 15 minutes for a page to load now! WOO!
But I do kind of wish I had seen this sooner… SIGH. Oh wells… Thank you, Missuz Shanthi ;3
OH HEY–I just remembered that the guy at Geek Squad said that if something happens and these new memory sticks crash, I will need a back-up… SO, I might end up using your infinite wisdom to my advantage later on anyway, Shanthi! BWAHAHA
