Okay so my mare, Spectator Joy, just had a foal on the 15th. I was planning on breeding her to King David next month and my computer has been going wack. Anyway, somehow it shipped her to FF, which wasn’t that big of a deal. But I was going to press the button for the Hypo Mating PAge and instead pressed “Breed This Foal” So now she is in foal again without waiting the 30 days. i was just wondering if this does anything like does it mean the foal will be a still born or should things be okay?
Nope! The date you book is the date on which you breed, as far as the game is concerned.
So, your booking date can be August 1st, but you can ship your mare to the stud in Feb, hit “breed this mare” in Feb, and ship the mare home. She’d be at your barn (technically) on August 1st, but you’d still get a July foal from an August breeding.
The only thing you can’t do is back breed. So, you can’t have a March 1 breeding date and ship the mare out there in April. That won’t work.
The way the game is set up is to protect our sanity–more or less–so if we forget the exact date of our booking, it’s okay. We just have to get our mare to the stud before the date. Think of a booking more as a deadline, something you have to get done before that date rolls around, but not necessarily on it.
hope this helps.
oh okay yeah i never quite understood that hahaha. Thanks!
I think Cat answered this perfectly and it should be added to the newbie guide. I think a lot of people have been confused with how breeding dates work. Good job Cat, before you know it you’ll have written the entire Newbie Guide!
Shh…that’s my secret, evil plan. To give out advice in hopes that the newbies won’t read it.
