Most of my horses are showing energy levels D or F…
Not sure what’s going on. Just noticed when trying to do manual entries because auto entries aren’t working
Game appears unplayable atm ?
3878 workouts ran today, based on yesterday’s schedule, so I think those are working fine.
Are your horses’ energy levels the same in both new + old apps?
These are sorted from last race they have. They are all entered to run soon, normally the energy levels would all be A.
Further down they have all been training for a while so they should all be A.
My setting for training is to only work if energy is A or B…
You don’t have this setting in the new app, FYI. So your horses have probably been working out, hence their energy being low.
Just checked the energy aren’t the same in both apps
So you have to train manually/ check energy levels and monitor each day ?
No, you have to set the minimum energy level in the new app so that it only trains when horses are at that level. (If that’s what you want to happen, of course.)
Sorry for being dim, so can the game be played without going onto the main app.
No, features are being migrated over slowly. So race entering, viewing the training summary, all the breeding stuff, jump trials…I think that’s about it - are all on the old app still.
Training/workouts have just been migrated to the new app. As well as boarding, budgets, a few other small things. (They’re all announced in Beta App Announcements category)
Done, thanks Shanthi. I must confess I hadn’t been reading the posts on the new app ![]()
How do you see energy levels in new app? I cant find it
Training > Pick a schedule > Workouts (though it does filter by whatever minimum energy level you’ve set).
I’m planning to add energy/fitness to the horse’s page, as well as re-create the training summary page to show everybody.
Thank you
I’m finding the same problem when I look at my Training Summary. I usually have between 20 & 50 horses with F energy, depending on how soon after the most recent race day I check and how many horses I had running that day. Currently, about 1/3rd of my horses have F energy. My workouts are set for “Minimum Energy for Training/Workouts” as F but I’ve just changed the “Minimum Days Rest Between Races” from 14 to 0, so I’ll have to see if that makes a difference.
It won’t, as that doesn’t affect workouts, it just affects what shows up on the race entry page.
Also if you have this set, then your horses are constantly working out, regardless of their energy level (unless they’re entered in a race, boarded, not at a track, etc). So the same deal as Joe - your horses have no energy because they’re constantly being worked.
I know i have seen it, but having trouble locating it. Where do I go to set levels required for training?
Settings (cog icon in top right) > Game > Minimum Energy for Training/Workouts
I understand what you’re saying but that was the schedule I had before and it was working really well recently. I think it’s only been since the Workouts switched to the Beta that they’ve gone downhill. Anyhow, I wouldn’t classify the workouts as being very strenuous (see the schedule below):-
BTW - From what you said, once a horse is entered in a race, or is at a boarding farm, in transit or at our Stables, regardless of what their workout schedule is, they will not workout from the day they’re entered to the day they race?
Here is a hypothetical scenario for a horse My new understanding of how Workouts are done:-
Mar 10th through 15th - Location Aqueduct - Not entered to race
Workouts Mar 10th through 16th
Mar 16th - Location Aqueduct - Entered to race on Mar 18th
No Workouts Mar 17th through 19th
Mar 19th & 20th - Location Aqueduct - Not entered to race
Workouts Mar 20th & 21st
Mar 21st - Shipped to Farm, arriving Mar 23rd
Mar 24th through Apr 13th - Location Farm
Apr 13th - Shipped to Australia, arriving Apr 16th
No Workouts Mar 22nd through Apr 17th
Apr 17th through Apr 22nd - Location Australia - Not entered to race
Workouts Apr 18th through 23rd
Apr 23rd - Location Australia - Entered to race on Apr 25th
No Workouts Apr 24th through Apr 26th
This is all assuming that Workouts are done every day before race entries, shipping/arrivals, etc.
I currently have 4 different schedules set up:-
Regular Workout Schedule - For horses (3YO+) at one track or another, ready to race, however, including horses entered to race.
2-Y-O Schedule - For 2YO’s only at one track or another, ready to race, however, including horses entered to race.
Farm Workouts - Supposed to be for horses resting at the Farm.
Injury Schedule - Supposed to be for horses recovering from injuries (Walk 1/2 mile every day)
I guess there is no need for the Farm Schedule since they wouldn’t be doing workouts anyway. It also looks like I don’t need to switch horses from Regular/2YO Schedules to Farm Workouts when they go home for a rest or vice-versa when they go to the track to race, a process which takes a lot of time every day. If I’ve got it right now, this is probably the first time I’ve fully understood how Workouts are done.
So this is just about the automatic workouts, there’s nothing stopping you from manually working out a horse who is entered to race, has a recent injury, etc. (You can only work out horses who are at a track, so if they’re at the farm or being boarded they still can’t be worked, manually or automatically.)
The automatic script runs every day around midnight, and goes “what day of the week was yesterday? Oh, it was Monday”. It then finds all the schedules that have stuff set for Mondays, and then finds all the horses who don’t meet the exclusion criteria that are assigned to that schedule (race entry, not at a track, currently in transit, etc). It runs the workout for all of those horses. Rinse & repeat for the following day. (It’s always one day behind so that if you do manually work out Champion Joe, the automatic script won’t double-workout him for that day. Also to reflect that if you put Champion Joe on a truck somewhere, he shouldn’t be worked, or if you entered him in a race, etc.)
But yes, the whole point was to minimise micro-management needed by players.
I’m pondering adding a flag to schedules so that you can set one for pre-race and one for post-injury. Then you could just assign all your horses to Regular or 2yo, and it would auto-switch them to Injury or Pre-Race (or whatever you choose to call those) based on current status. Right now, like I said, if the horse is entered to race they’re not automatically worked out. And when they get injured their schedule is unassigned - though there’s nothing stopping you from re-assigning them to a schedule.
