On the subject of tracks, apart from the preference and abilities, are there any ways such as traits like fast twitch fibers, strong tendons, powerful hindquarters etc that you can use in selecting studs and broodmares that will pass on these traits to a percentage of their offspring, so that they are better suited to a certain track. For example if a horse with strong tendons will do well on a fast dirt track, or a horse with fast twitch fibres will have a better start than other horses. Is it possible that there is information like this that you could use to increase you chances of getting a ideal horse for that track. Opinions and advice are welcome. Thanks
As someone already pointed out in your other thread, FF horses don’t have any conformation-related stats besides height and soundness. So basically every FF horse’s tendon is the same as all other FF horses.
Horses do have preferences, i.e. they could love dirt and hate turf, or love turf and hate steeplechase. (Most horses will strongly favor 1 surface, some will favor 2, and a rare few will do well at all 3). So you can look at race performance to figure out if the horse is a dirt/turf/jumper horse. Beyond that, you can fanwank all you want that such-and-such horse has awesome ligaments/leg bones and that’s why they’re awesome on this surface, but it boils down to them having high stats for one surface or another.
Cool Thanks.
