So how were everyone’s year end totals? Mine weren’t so hot, ran in 500+ more races than the year before but had more than $2 million less in earnings and a 9% decline in win percentage.
Year 2014:
Starts: 1,527
Wins: 104 (7%) Versus 16% the previous year, ouch!
Places: 183 (12%)
Shows: 177 (12%)
Fourths: 198 (13%)
Earnings: $8,792,475
While it’s probably unfair to look at my whole year, since I’ve only been around for about three weeks, so far so good over here None of my horses, including claimers in the claiming races I won them from, have finished out of the top three yet. It’s probably a case of beginner’s luck, but here’s hoping the 2015 season is a successful one.
Last year was my second full year playing and it was pretty good. We’ve earned more than 4 million dollars even though our winning percentage wasn’t very high. I’m hoping this year will be a lot better though.
2014 was the first solid year for the stable, with consistent stakes performers and tons of titled horses, including our first studified stallion. We’re very happy and we hope we can improve on the stats this year.
This Year:
Races: 648
Wins: 99 (15%)
Places: 85 (13%)
Shows: 90 (14%)
Fourths: 80 (12%)
On the board: 42%
Earnings: $4,988,000
2014 was our first full year of playing (only took in 12 races in 2013) so I’m quite pleased with how the team did. I’m still learing about how to figure things out so hopefully onwards and upwards in 2015. Manged to get three horses to champion status including my starter horse so really pleased with that. Also had our first stakes winner on our home track in a race that I’ve watched irl for years and it’s a grade one to boot so definitely one of our highlights.
Given I ran 100+ more races on the previous year, this was down massively on 2013 in terms of earnings (had over $6 million in additional winnings) and all the percentage stats. I was quite disappointed with 2014 but I did have a number of very good horses retire and some seemed to be a bit beyond it…
