My heritage is German and sometimes we tend to be a little (see Subject Line) … I have a filly that is “Breeders Series” eligible and paid up. Could she have raced in “Race #45, 8 furlongs (Turf) Just A Game Breeders’ Cup, 3yo F, (Grade 3) $200,000 - Belmont” this weekend? I’ve read the forum threads a number of times and obviously I’m still a little (see Subject Line)!!! I guess what I need is a simple yes or no answer! Thanks for helping…
Breeders’ Cup races during the year (ie the Just A Game Breeders’ Cup) do not typically require any special sort of nomination. Some of them might, but if they do, they show up on the nominations list. All they are are races that count extra towards points for the Breeders’ Cup races on Breeders’ Cup day in Oct. So if you’re aiming for those races, it’s good to try and run in one or two of the ______ BC races to help make sure they qualify by points.
The Breeders’ Series is more of a Breeding Triple Crown for FF. There are Dirt/Turf/SC divisions for just about every age group (obviously no SC for 2yos). Breeders nominate their entire foal crop for a year for the divisions of the breeder’s choice. If a breeder manages to sweep an entire series, then the breeder gets a special incentive (it doesn’t have to be with the same horse, just they all have to have been bred by you).
Now I’ve gone and lost the link to the page where the top 14 horses in each division are kept for the Breeders Races this year… Can someone post it here!!
