The Year that was - How'd you do?

I had my best year ever, I’m actually surprised when looking back how well the string went.

Races: 1,337
Wins: 362 (27%)
Places: 270 (20%)
Shows: 185 (14%)
Fourths: 150 (11%)
Earnings: $31,980,275

Most of the team running at allowance levels but although there was no superstar among them, they were super consistent finishing the year at the top of the OTB board with 65% OTB finishes. Hoping some of those will improve up to stakes level next year.

Probably the biggest highlight for me this year is the performance of Quarren’s 2yos. He’s finished the year with 48% winners to runners and a solid silver ranking. Thank you to everyone who supported him in his first year at stud and to those who’ve raced his progeny.

Looks like 84 is my magic number  :astonished:

2022
Races: 564
Wins: 60 11%
Places: 84 15%
Shows: 84 15%
Fourths: 84 15%
Earnings: $3,751,550 15%
OTB: 40%

2022 wasn’t very impressive, but I’m happy about [color=red]Ch. Wiry Feeling which I bought earlier this year. She is the only racing foal of her dam NCh. Enyo, which I bought two years ago and I bred a filly by Al Mundhir from her. I think this is going to be a great damline.

Finally figured out how to play this game after all these years. Lol. Hoping next year will be even better.

2022
Races:798
Wins:155 (19%)
Places:132 (17%)
Shows:126 (16%)
Fourths:85 (11%)

OTB:52%

Won a large number of stakes races, including G1s Acorn Stakes, Breeders’ Cup Distaff, Futurity Stakes, Hopeful Stakes, Mother Goose Stakes, Turf Classic Invitational, All Aged Stakes, and Doomben Cup.

By far, our highlights this year include homebred Ch. Fractal (NCh. Changeling x Ch. Limelight - GCh. Stagehand), who won twice, placed once, and ran third twice, all G1s; and Ch. Wry Hope (NCh. Formal Occasion x Indy Angela - A.P. Indy), a Grey Stable-bred 2YO who won the first two legs of the 2YO Triple Crown and ran 3rd in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.

Not a bad year at all. I’ve given up trying to figure the game out if I haven’t after 12 years I don’t suppose I ever will  8)

Races: 576
Wins: 71 (12%)
Places: 82 (14%)
Shows: 72 (13%)
Fourths: 73 (13%)
Earnings: $5,883,900
However the highlight of the year has been [color=red]GCh. Wild Fool 2020 FFCh. Foolhardy x Wild Highland Racehorse 10(9)-6(5)-4(4)-0-0 $1,581,000
She is certainly the best 2yo I have ever owned and bred and arguably one of my best horses ever.  she looks to be joint 4th with Wind Surfer  in top stakes winner and 3rd top points winner! I think this is only the second time i have had a horse in any of these lists  Raindale Raven’s win in the Jockey Club Gold Cup was completely unexpected too.  So i’m a very happy bunny this year   .

Brilliant season on the Stakes races(less runners than previous but more prize money)

Just when I started thinking I had a handle on it with the stable’s best season ever last year (30% wins, 66% OTB), the ponies reminded me that wasn’t true, a la “You know nothing, Jon Snow.”

This Year - 54% OTB

Ch. Secretive Devil (4yo mare, Devil His Due) - Ungr. Stymie Handicap, Ungr. Kings Point Handicap.  SP.

I changed training schedules and how often I rested/trained/entered horses which seemed to make a big difference. This wasn’t a great year for 2yo’s, but maybe they’ll figure it out in the next month or two. Overall, we managed 3rd for Top Money Earning Stables, 4th in Top Winning, and tied for 9th/10th in OTB %.  :astonished:

We had alot of youngin’s this year, many from some of my newer stallys. I think a number of these younger horses will blossom as 3/4yo and as steeplechasers, so i’m excited for the new year!

I leased or sold most of my horses. Turns out I’m much happier watching my horses do well for stables that actually know what they’re doing.
