Government Secret x Arabic
9.1 Hand Dark Grey Filly
Star, snip, RF Blaze, LF Ermine, RH Ermine, LH Ermine
Arabic kept us waiting for a few days with this one, as she was originally planned to be born 1/29. She is a very pretty grey filly. Arabic is unproven so far as a broodmare, her 2yo starts his career in just a few months. I believe she came out at her full height. Government Secret is bronze ranked and has 3 SWs out of 12 foals to race.
It’s been filly power here, here’s hoping we’ll get a few colts this year but anyway here’s our second little girl
Is She Lucky
10.1 hand Bay Filly w/ Blaze, RF Blaze, LF Blaze, RH Ermine, LH Coronet
My Lucky Day x Is She High (Highland Rogue)
This filly is impressive, standing 10.1 hands at the shoulder in addition to being a gorgeous bay. She has stellar bloodlines on both sides, My Lucky Day (S) brings in Lucky Cigar (CDR, S/S), Cigar (G/G, CDR), and Miss Hayday (G, RDC). Is She High only adds to that with Highland Rogue (G/G, CDR).
Is She High was a lease so she’ll be going back to FF.
First colt arrived happy and healthy even though he is nine days late.
Sorcerers Fling
9.1 hand bay colt w/Star, stripe, snip, RF Blaze, LF Ermine, RH Ermine, LH Ermine
Seattle Sorcerer x Last Fling
Fling’s produced fillies the last four years in a row so we’re happy to have gotten one possible future stud from her. Half to MSW Calm Winds. Seattle Sorcerer has 1 MSW and 1 SW out of his racing foals so far.
During the night, Royalle decided to go into labor. An hour later, a gorgeous black colt stood by her side. After last year’s stillborn Strider filly we were a bit nervous with this one but Nightlife is happy and healthy. Royalle is off to see Sleipnir next.
Nightlife
8.1 hand Black colt w/ star
Nightfight x Royalle
Nightfight is a MSW, with victories including the Whitney Handicap (2x), Metroplitan stakes, and Prix de l’Arc Triomphe. Royalle raced pretty unsuccessfully prior to becoming a broodmare which is where her strengths lie with all three current racing foals being on the board, including one SP.
have had two new arrivals in the foal herd since last post
Double The Luck
My Lucky Day (S) x Lil Miss Lucky
8.2 hand Chestnut Filly w/ star, LH sock, RH ermine, LF sock & RF ermine
Very cute filly, dam is unproven as both a racer & brood although her three year old has placed. Sire is gaining quite a reputation as a respectable sire of consistancy. Lil Miss Lucky has been sent to see Bellagio, the neighbor to Chivalry, sire of her yearling son.
Absent Luck
7.3 Red Chestnut Colt w/ stripe
My Lucky Day (S) x In Absentia (S)
Our second homebred colt from Lucky, and one we plan on keeping for ourselves in the long run. Name is tentative so far. Both sire and dam are equally matched breeding wise. My Lucky Day has had nearly every foal win a race, minus two but both placed, where Abs has five of six foals to win races. Her Witness son has yet to make his maiden start. In Absentia is set to see V is for Victory in June.
Haha, Double the Luck! Love it! I’m becoming quite the My Lucky Day fan. Kind of felt like he was one of FF’s best kept secrets until recently. There are going to be many more mares being sent his way I’m sure.
The ever punctual Golden Legend delivered a gorgeous bay filly early this morning. Is it a good omen on how her three year old will do in the Derby? I sure hope so…
Unnamed
8.2h Bay Filly w/ White Face & socks
Moonover Boy x Golden Legend (Black Legend)
We’ve been having a huge amount of bay foals born in the Tall Oaks broodmare herd for the last couple of years, and this cute little girl is no exception. Both parents are silver ranked, and both have stakes winning foals. Moonover Boy is also a CDR, but he’s now retired so Unnamed here is his next-to-last foal. Legacy has come into her own as a broodmare in the last year with Derby contendor One Lucky Soul and now her SW 2yo by I’m Your Angel. Legacy will see My Lucky Day again for a 2015 foal.
The girls are going to beat out the boys again this year
Sparks Fly
Gimme A Shot (S) x Whirl It (S)
9.1H Bay Filly w/ Stripe
*Born the same exact day her half-sister Flawless Dancer was born on one year ago.
I have to admit, I’m a Taylor Swift fan and this filly’s name comes from one of Taylor’s unreleased songs. A big girl, and bay no less, Spark is the second filly we’ve gotten from Whirl ever since she came to Tall Oaks. It’s fitting that Whirl produce a filly her last year as a broodmare. Being seventeen years old Whirl’s earned it, and we don’t want to risk loosing her by breeding her again. Gimme A Shot has sired MSWs Athens, Long Shot, Crusader, and Mission Bay.
