A thread for everyone to post their potential stallion prospects. There’s no restrictions for who you can post or how often (please, brag!) but maybe wait until a few of the stallion qualifications are met so we’re not posting about EVERY stakes win from all our colts, haha. A great place to also announce new stallions heading to the shed next year when breeding season is already over.
STALLION QUALIFICATIONS
Is the colt at least 4 years old?
Has he won at least 7 stakes races of any grade?
Has he won at least 1 Grade 1 stakes race?
Has he placed in the top 3 in at least 10 stakes races of any grade?
Has he placed in the top 3 in at least 2 Grade 1 races?
My watch list: NEEDS 1 SW
[color=blue]GCh. Bracton, 7yo dkb. Rumor Has It x Lady of Honour (Romeo) Needs 1 SW of any grade (won G1 Epsom Derby, G1 St. Leger, G1 Cox Plate).
[color=blue]NCh. Star of Wonder, 7yo b. Harvard Bound x Wonder’s Miracle Needs 1 SW of any grade (won G1 Coronation Cup)
NEEDS 2 SW’S
[color=blue]GCh. Counting Kisses, 5yo b. Count Me In x Never Been Kissed (No Duplicate) Needs 2 SW’s of any grade (won G1 Belmont Stakes)
[color=blue]St. Patrick’s Day, 6yo blk. Black Warrior x Topaz (Omaha) Needs 2 SW’s, including a G1
NEEDS 3 SW’s
[color=blue]GCh. Sandman, 5yo blk. Nightfight x Dream Time Needs 3 SW’s of any grade (won G1 Doomben Stakes).
Everyone is at home recharging. Hoping to begin training again end of December/early January to hit the stakes races at the start of the year. The older kids will be the trickiest, but again, hoping some epic juicing time at home + several weeks training = supercharged enough to land just that final stakes win (or two)!
[b]Likely to retire in 2022
[color=blue]NCh. Tir Na Nog 5yo dk. bay
NCh. Celtic Star x Ch. Runaway Princess
He’s qualified now, thank goodness. I didn’t breed him, but I bought him as a weanling or yearling. Bought his sire, too, who will be standing with us as well. He offers a nice outcross, at least. He’s had one minor injury - limping - in July of this year. I may try to race him a couple more times to see how he does, but he already offers longevity to his offspring, as he’s won stakes at ages 2, 3, 4, and 5. Turf specialist.
Need 2 SW’s
[color=blue]GCh. Seafaring 4yo dk. bay
NCh. I’m A Classic x Naval Romance (Romeo)
He also needs one more top 3 finish, I think. Hopefully I can manage to get him there. He’s another that has won stakes at 2, 3, and 4 so far. Dirt specialist.
I went through a bout of inactivity (thanks to working + young kiddos), but am starting to get active again. As a result, I don’t have many prospects yet. I’m hoping that in a year’s time we’ll be in a better position to post here. I sold all the boys who were close as I couldn’t give them the attention to boost them into studhood.
However, thanks to Lewis at Starfish Stables, we do have one future stallion prospect who is already qualified. [color=blue]NCh. Franco Classico was the 2019 3 Year Old Colt and Classic Horse of the Year. He is sired by I’m A Classic out of a created mare, Little Franco. He has won such notable races as the Breeder’s Cup Classic and UAE Derby, plus he placed in the Preakness and showed in the Belmont. At this time, he will not be standing in 2022 unless his performance makes a massive decline.
I REALLY hope one of my boys qualifies next year. For some reason I just really, really want a third stallion in the barn (so if anyone is selling… haha).
