So much going on!

Yeah, so I’ve been using Facebook and FF to help me stay sane as everything is changing around me recently.

About 2 or 3 days ago (I’m lucky I can even keep count haha), my boyfriend found out that he was accepted into the Canadian Armed Forces as a supply technician.  this means he is sworn into the Army on November 12th and on the 22nd leaves to spend the next 13 weeks in Quebec for Basic Training.  Means I am on my own with my baby girl (who is 9 months back on the 16th of this month).  Scary thought and there is a lot that needs to be done before he leaves.  I’m happy for him and it also means a much better income than the one he is bringing in now…he’s a welder but due to the recession his hours dropped back considerably.

To top that off, we decided that after a year and half of being engaged, we are just going to get the technicality of getting married out of the way.  We are heading to city hall to get the deed done on November 9th.  I’m happy with it, as I never wanted a big wedding anyways, just wish I could really go all out for a massive reception afterwards but it will still end up a special day.  I’m excited…in fact I’m more nervous of Chuck getting into the military and being without him for the 13 weeks and then another 2 months after (occupational training in Central Ontario) than I am of becoming Mrs. Radford, LOL!

The final thing is that I am going to go back to work after being off just over a year on mat leave for Abygael.  Fun fun-- my first day will be the November 25th.

Yay, LOL!

Omigosh, congratulations!! If Abygael wears the right color dress, maybe she can be your “something blue”!   Will you guys see eachother at all while he’s gone? So many changes to juggle at once, but it sounds like you guys will do fine.

I’m hoping that he is coming home for Christmas and he can get a weekend pass to come home but due to too many thing (distance, travelling time and the such), we would have to see how that goes.

I’m confident we will come through this fine.  Just a lot to absorb when we thought that his chances of getting into the military were nearly ruined (long story).

Actually, the funny thing is that my outfit has blue in it and Chuck will be wearing a blue tie,  Now for old and borrowed

Congrats, that sounds like a lot of exciting life changes.

Changes yes, but they sound like good ones!

My brother joined the military before marrying as well, so him and his wife went through the same kind of thing. It was tough but he was still able to see her for holidays and the odd weekend. After graduating from Basic Training in Quebec he was stationed in Edmonton. The military has been really good to him, helped him find a place for him and his wife (and then a baby girl) and he can now be home most nights. It worked out well for them and the time apart only made them stronger. Best of luck with your plans!

what did your brother get in for???  Chuck originally wanted weapons tech (don’t get scared but he likes to tinker with guns, responsibly–he’s a hunter) as well as a materials tech so that he could utilize the certificate for welding that he had recently received.  But both positions were full or had been filled by people more qualified than him, so took the supply tech.

I’ve heard that the military is good-- after this stint in Quebec,he is off to CFB Borden for 2 months for the occupational training part.  Then, not sure–guess they decided where they want to station him for the time being.  I’m actually excited–I moved all my life with my parents, which has given me a love for travelling.  The moving part doesn’t scare me one bit-- the missing him for nearly 6 momths at least does, LOL
