It is a sad day as we announce the retirement of our 14-year old stallion, Slew O’Scots. He took a bad step in the field over the weekend, and strained quite a few ligaments. The vets advised he could be rested for a year (or two!) and perhaps brought back, but he’d always be at greater risk of re-injury. We felt we owed him more than that, so have decided to pension him and let him live out his days in ease and comfort.
Slew O’Scots is silver ranked and has sired 76% winners from runners, including such horses as Mantle of Power, St. Kilda, To Die For, etc.
To anyone with mares who were set to visit Slew and had their bookings cancelled: we’re happy to honour them with any of our other studs (see below for availability) this year or next year (for free, of course - though your booking fee should have been automatically refunded if you already paid).

Dangggggit. I was wondering why my Cigar mare popped back up as open…
I’m really sorry to hear that. He was a pretty stellar boy, and this foal would have been my first by him. 14 is so darn young. I’m glad you will still enjoy his presence at the farm, though. Here’s hoping he will have a long, happy, healthy retirement.
That’s sad. I didn’t plan any breeding to him this year, but I do have two weanlings by Slew O’Scots; of which I especially like [color=blue]Tarde o Temprano.
I had one mare left to breed this year and of course she was booked to Slew O’Scots. Luck of the draw!
He’s a great stallion, though, and definitely deserving of his retirement. I currently own a pair of 2yo fillies by him who I hope will run straight at 3 because this year doesn’t look hopeful, haha. I also have one mare in foal to him for next year, so at least one girl finished her date.
