Well, we had our first foal of the New Year yesterday! Easy Does It held out for a few days past her due date but finally produced a beautiful little colt while I was away yesterday. He’s been tentatively named Fronting.
Yay! After 2 1/2 weeks of holding my breath, Daffodil Lil finally had her foal. I’m really excited for it. Daffodil Lil had a nice record as a racer (5-4-1-0-0), but she only did steeplechase, and she only raced as a 5 and 6 year old. Moonover Boy doesn’t really need any introduction. So, Skyclad Stables is proud to present…
Yay! I am so excited today! A week after her due date, Sedaka Century finally had her first foal, a gorgeous little filly by High Chances. High Chances was, obviously, pretty awesome. Sedaka Century was the first horse I claimed (for $10k, as well), and only my third horse. She ended up winning 21 of 47 starts and earning over $1.7 million. I was SUPER excited for this cross. Hopefully it will have produced a sprinting monster.

Areion was an immortal horse in Greek mythology, sired by Poseidon, and who was extremely fast and could talk. If either of those turn out to be true I’ll be pretty pleased.
Finally, a mare who didn’t foal late! A cute little colt by Almost Home and Gone Punk. Punks never did anything on the track, so I’m hoping Almost Home will add a little class to her genes and make for a decent runner.
Another early foal! Electrifying had her second foal this morning, a beautiful filly by NCh. Gimme A Shot. I was going to name her Shine but it said there was already a horse with that name (couldn’t find it though :/).
She’s been named Faraday. A Faraday cage is an enclosure made by a conducting material that blocks out static electric fields. Pretty sure it’s also a character on Lost, so good all around.

Texas Rose foaled a few weeks early this morning, delivering a handsome colt, making a tie between the colts and fillies! He’s been named Falcon Scott, after the explorer Robert Falcon Scott who led two expeditions to the Antarctic.

So I had enough points to redeem and I got a beautiful little filly! She’s a lovely addition to our foal crop this year. Her name is tentative for now.
