I’ve been debating whether or not to post here since I don’t have nearly as big a crop as some of you, but I finally figured, ah, what the heck, might as well.
Have had 2 born so far this year, both fillies.
First was [color=red]Glass Belle by ICh. Belanso (S) x All Those Glasses on Jan. 30. Her mama is stakes placed (2nd in the 2014 Saratoga Breeders’ Cup) and has 3 speed records, so I’m hoping for a good career with this little girl.
Second is [color=red]Simply Flirtatious by NCh. Player (S) x Minute in Gigi (a GCh. Simply Heroic girl) this morning, Feb. 2.
Have a total of 9 left to go. Next one is due 2/7, so we’ll see where we go from here.
Beautiful babies, congratulations! And the number of your future broodmares / weanlings / yearlings tends to grow geometrically… I have no idea how it happens
Have been out for a little over a week on vacation. Came back to find another little girl to add to the list. I’m beginning to think there’s something in the water…
[color=red]Crisanta (NCh. Golden Text x Costa Marta) was born Feb. 8, and her name supposedly means “golden flower, crysanthemum.” She has a total of 5 chef-de-race and 1 reine-de-course horses in her bloodline, so I’m really hoping for a good career with this girl.
So, 3 down, 8 more to go. Next one isn’t due till April, though, so I think it’s gonna be a while.
Had one foal born in April. [color=blue]In the Trenches (NCh. Slip In The Mud x Ch. Dodge the Draft) was born Apr. 4. I bought his mama already bred, so he’s not a homebred, but he has War Admiral/Man O’ War in his bloodline, so I’m hoping for a good runner.
Have had 2 born so far in May.
[color=blue]Soldier Laddie (ICh. Belanso x Gallant Lassie) was born May 5. He’s named after one of my favorite Irish songs.
[color=red]Rosearia (ICh. Unabridged x Rose Gloss) was born yesterday, May 9. I’m really excited for this little girl. She’s half-sister to multi stakes winner/placer [color=blue]Ch. Got Gloss and stakes placed [color=blue]Glossy Gold. Both her parents are silver-ranked breeders, so I’m hoping this little gal will shine.
2020 Total = [color=red]4 fillies, [color=blue]2 colts, 5 still to go (Next one due 6/1)
Came to check on the horses this morning and had quite the surprise when I found a brand new little one in the barn. Mama foaled about 2.5 weeks early, but glad to see both are OK.
Introducing our newest addition to the barn, [color=blue]Lord Excalibur (NCh. Lord Nelson x Ch. Limelight). He’s got a rather nice lineup in his pedigree - Cigar, Highland Laird, Highland Rogue, Spectacular Bid, and Seattle Slew - so I’m hoping he shines like his ancestors.
So…I’ve been really bad about keeping up with this. Lol. >.<
The last few babies of the year have arrived happy and healthy, so I’ll admit I’m doing a bit of a happy dance here.
The first one is [color=blue]Dunedain (NCh. Lord Nelson x Ranger’s Pride) who was born June 3. After I named him I discovered that there’s another horse on here with a similar name, though, so his will probably have to change. (T.T)
Second is [color=blue]Gallant Lord (NCh. Lord Nelson x Ch. Awesomette), born June 7. Along with his sire’s amazing bloodline, his dam also has Mr. Prospector (I), Townsend Holly (B/I), and Dixie Chick (B/I) in her bloodline, so I’m hoping for good things from this little guy.
And last but not least, there’s [color=red]Dixie Rose (GCh. Dixie Time x Cryptorose), born July 10. Both of her parents are from created lines, so there’s no telling what her real potential is, but both sire and dam are silver ranked, so this one should be a good runner. Cryptorose officially retired after the birth.
In total, we ended up with 11 healthy babies (10 homebreds, 1 created weanling). Interesting that it ended up being a fairly even playing field, too, with 5 homebred colts and 5 homebred fillies. (The created filly did tip the scale on that score tho). Now I just have to wait for next year’s crop.
