It is that time of year everyone. Time to start thinking of the next Kentucky Derby Winner!!
Every year, there is a website, roadtotheroses.com
that you can pick up to 10 horses, 2 trainers and 2 jockeys, to try and earn the most points in all the Derby Prep races. Very easy to play, even if you don’t know who the current favorites are.
I set up our own League:
League Name: Final Furlong
League Identifier: 4281999794
Activation Code: 3088247715
So, after you set up your stable and verify it, you can join the FF if you want and “compete” against other FF members. You will also be in the “main” standings as well and might earn prizes.
You have to be 18 yrs old, so if you are not, ask your parents if you can use their name.
Good Luck to all and especially those who are running for the roses this year!!
Oh that is interesting. I might have to try it out, as I’m already slowly compiling a list of people and horses I should keep an eye on.
Too bad Mr. Hot Stuff isn’t nominated yet. I might have to set up another account if Winstar decides to nominate him, which will probably happen given his smashing victory on Feb. 1st. Took my breath away watching him stride past the entire field.
Here’s my crew for this year:
Capt. Candyman Can
Flying Pegasus
Friesan Fire
Giant Oak
Haynesfield
Hello Broadway
Old Fashioned
Patena
Pioneerof the Nile
The Pamplemousse
Im planning on adding Stardom Bound at the first draft since she likely wont be running in any of the scored preps until after then. She’s my derby pick thus far I had a hard time picking horses this year, the first 5 or 6 were pretty easy and then it was hard to fill the other slots with SB not running in a scored prep til the SA Derby (hopefully!) and two of the top juveniles over in Dubai. I totally forgot about Chocolate Candy and now Im bummed seeing how he did yesterday
Jockeys, I have Garret Gomez and Edgar Prado.
Trainers, Larry Jones (Old Fashioned, Fresian Fire) and Rick Dutrow (This Ones for Phil, Patena and a couple others). Which made me laugh. To me, these two represent the best and the worst of horse racing, but Dutrow has too many nice strong contenders in his barn to ignore him. As much as I would love to SB win the Derby, I think I’ll be nauseous if there’s another IEAH win. At least she’s with Bobby Frankel for the moment…
Axel Foley
Chocolate Candy
Fitzaslew
Friesan Fire
Mr. Fantasy
Old Fashioned
Pioneerof the Nile
Poltergeist
Stardom Bound
The Pamplemousse
Garrett Gomez
Shaun Bridgmohan
Bob Baffert
Larry Jones
It’s a terribly noobish list, and if Mr. Hot Stuff shows up among the nominees/contenders by the time the Sham rolls around I’ll have to make another stable.
