Royal Ascot

Yay! Aussie wins again!

Miss Andretti won the 5F King’s Stand Stakes. Aussie also had horses who placed third and fourth (and last). She’s an awesome mare - smashed the course record by two seconds too!

That’s two years in a row that an Aussie sprinter has slaughtered the European sprinters. Miss Andretti is the third Australian winner of the race too.

Looking forward to the 6F Golden Jubilee Stakes on Saturday where a couple of the Aussie’s will back-up.

It was an awesome display from Miss Andretti.

Some excellent horsesracing today at Royal Ascot, watch out for :-

US Ranger    2.30    Jersey Stakes (Gr3)
Echelon        3.05    Windsor Forest Stakes (Gr2)
Dylan Thomas  3.45  Prince of Wales Stakes  (Gr1)
Polar Circle    4.55    Queen Mary Stakes  (Gr2)

US Ranger 2nd -  hadn’t had the best of runs when seventh to Cockney Rebel in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket and the plan had been to return him to the 7f over which he had been so impressive in the Prix Djebel on his reappearance. He was held up just behind the leaders and came with a smooth run towards the centre to lead over a furlong out but was simply swamped by the winner. His handler will now drop him to a shorter trip in the Prix Maurice de Gheest and will contemplate the July Cup. He remains a colt of much class who will also score at a higher level this term.

Echelon 5th -  was disappointing, but last year’s runner-up had never previously reached a level within half a stone of that which Nannina produced here and, in all probability, she is simply not quite up to thislevel. The slight bump she received made no difference, and she was beaten fair and square by superior fillies on the day. A return to Group 3 company might be wise

Dylan Thomas 2nd -  a real bull of a horse, comprehensively turned round recent form with Notnowcato and the Irish Derby winner, who thrives on fast ground, looked overpriced at 11-2 for the King George behind the evens favourite Authorized, who first faces the test against older horses in the Eclipse

Polar Circle 11th -represent a big yard and this filly was not given a hard time once defeat was obvious. She is probably a fair bit better than she showed here, and will appreciate a sixth furlong.
