So today I mourn the first passing of a Diamond Dale horse.
On July 4, my silver ranked mare Lady In Red was found in her paddock having passed of a heart attack at the young age of 18 years old. Productive on the track but never cracking the stakes ranks herself, she went on to produce 6 Stakes Winners, such as Lady Hollywood, Etched in Gold, and Lady Vesta.
She was a quiet mare, a fan favourite with those that worked on the Farm. Her favourite treates were the green striped peppermint and bananas, for which she would make her ‘funny face’ for. In her later years, she loved to be doted on by the children of the staff and was known to give the odd ‘pony ride’.
Buried under her favourite tree on the farm, she will be missed. Rest in Peace, Lady.
