So far the year has started out great! All our ladies held on until the New Year, not to mention we’ve already got a bouncing baby who couldn’t wait to say hi!
Just came home from school because I wasn’t feeling well, and found this beautiful girl with mom in the barn.
Introducing:
[color=red]By Scott
NCh. Slew O’Scots x By A Nose (Almost Home)
8.3h Dark Bay filly
She is also mom’s first foal but I really like her breeding. I have a good feeling about her but only time will tell.
On a side note: I was wondering if I could add an exclamation point to the end of her name? I didn’t because I wasn’t sure, but it’s not a big deal if I can’t.
[color=blue]Angel Dove
WCh. I’m Your Angel x Slew’s Sweety (Seattle Slew)
9.1h Dark Bay colt
He’s Sweety’s second foal, and first colt. We bred and own his older sister [color=red]Blue Suede Shoes, who is due to be on the tracks in 2016. I’m really looking forward to figuring these guys out.
Sad day for us. We lost one of our most anticipated foals today, a Candidate filly out of our monster truck mare [color=red]Sweet And Spicy. This is the second year in a row that we lost her foal, last year being a Foolhardy colt. I’m still in shock! We don’t have any live foals from her and I almost don’t want to breed her again… But we’ve already booked her for a re-try with Foolhardy.
I know this is all virtual but I’m kinda upset. 2 years without any results hurts.
Hopefully your other lovely foals help ease the loss, although I’m sure it’s not easy two years in a row. Good luck with the next foal! Now when she does foal karma will make it pretty epic
Vendetta is ElegantlyXplosive’s second foal and first filly and is part of her sire’s first crop. Mom had limited success on the track whereas dad ran strong for about 3 years. She’s quite the mystery so I can’t wait until she hits the track two years from now!
(Note: Foals were bought in utero, so more are being awaited this year!)
Dam and sire are pretty unproven so far, with mom only having one live foal(who is a winner) on the track and another due to start in a few weeks. Grandparents however, are all Silver ranked, so we’re hoping that it’ll show through in two years time.
Part of her sire’s first crop and is her dam’s fifth foal. She’s half to two SP ponies, so she definitely has potential. I don’t really know what to name her… does anybody have any suggestions?
Pretty excited about Sweethart since Romeo is her grandsire through her dam and I’ve been pretty lucky with his get so far. Romeo-related horses tend to be good runners but I wonder how Mr. Prospective’s lines will influence her.
Cracked Image was so-so on the track, but seems to be producing good runners so far, her oldest foal being a MSW. Spock was very talented so we’re hoping that come 2017-18, this big boy will have the same talent as his father and brothers.
This wraps up our foaling season this year, and I’m happy to announce that all our mares and all but one foal survived. Next year we’ll be looking forward to 18 foals and our first homebreds running under our silks. So exciting! Thanks for keeping up with us.
4 Colts/ 6 Fillies/ 1 Stillborn/ 10 surviving foals total
(7 homebreds: 4 surviving colts, and 3 surviving fillies)
