Kicking off the 2021 foaling season is [color=blue]24 Karat Magic, a beautiful black colt by Eighteen Karat-Super Tuesday, by Candidate. Decided to double up on What’s It Worth since Super Tuesday’s dam did quite well with Worth stallions. Tuesday’s only running foal is a multiple stakes-placed winner.
… he is so obviously named for Bruno Mars’ ridiculously catchy song.
Super Tuesday may or may not visit Space Chips for her next foal.
In the wee hours, one of my favorite mares delivered one of our most anticipated foals. [color=blue]Horus is a beautiful black foal by freshman sire American Pharoah-Diamond Prospector, by Mr. Prospector. Ridiculously pleased with the color that came out of the color roulette and wondering a bit since three of the mare’s four foals are black while their sires are bays. His dam has one foal to race, so far, the stakes-placed newly turned 3YO maiden filly [color=red]Diamond In The Sky. Horus is her first colt.
Kind of surprised the name hadn’t been taken given the many Egyptian-themed names running around the site.
Diamond Prospector is probably the one going to Space Chips for her next foal.
The other day, a lovely bay filly decided to make her appearance. [color=red]ISO is by Karat-Quorra, by No Duplicate. She is her dam’s first foal and named for the type of program her mother’s namesake was in the movie Tron: Legacy.
Since I won’t be seeing another foal until the 27th, I might as well post that What’s Honor lost her Dunaden foal. She’s back in foal to him for the next year.
Happy to report three healthy arrivals in the past two days.
[color=red]Sanctuary City is a beautiful black filly by Blue Smoke-Flora Macdonald, by Point Given. I bought her in utero and am happy to get some different bloodlines in the barn. She is a great-granddaughter of the great Highland Raven.
Flora Macdonald has been bred back to Karat.
[color=blue]Summer Soldier is a brightbrightBRIGHT chestnut colt by Karat-Vishnu, by Irish River. He is the third foal from the cross (due to my laziness with mare matching and also because Karat is free to breed to lol) but it’s a good cross - oldest sibling [color=blue]Arkenstone is a multiple-winning 3YO. They should improve with time and distance.
Vishnu will be visiting Calle de Oro for her next foal.
[color=blue]Golden Impala is a pretty dark bay colt by Karat-A.P. Impala, by A.P. Indy. A.P. Impala was one of my first homebreds and this is her first foal. No idea what to expect but hopefully it’s good things.
No plans yet for A.P. Impala. I may put her up for lease. If interested, PM me.
A little late but we had two arrivals a few days ago.
[color=blue]Antifa is a beautiful dark grey colt by Hogsmeade-Fairy Wish, by Highland Wizard. He is her sixth colt from six live foals. When will she ever give me a filly?
Fairy Wish is booked to Lake Highlands but blew her covering date by a few so hoping to hear back about it.
The other new arrival is [color=red]Eliza Schuyler, a pretty dark bay filly by Player-Light Up Your Life, by Cigar. She’s got a slew of haf-siblings but only one of them’s won so far. Hopefully, Miss Eliza can change that. While she’s named for a real life historical figure, I named her specifically because of the musical Hamilton.
Light Up Your Life’s next mating hasn’t been picked yet.
[color=red]Evening Song is a BIG black filly by Karat-Enchanted Evening, by Highland Pride. Her name is a continuation of the word “Evening” found in the dam line. She’s bred on the famed Worth/Rogue cross and one of Karat’s two multiple stakes winners is also bred on the cross, so at least we’re going in the right direction lol She has a full brother who’s a 2YO this year.
No breeding plans have been set for Enchanted Evening.
