Please tell me I'm not the only one...

Who is already going through their mare herd and picking out possible stallion choices for them?  ::)

I can’t believe baby season is in 2 months!

I do that multiple times over the year.

Ooo, that boy’s pretty!  This boy’s pretty!  So many pretty boys. Gotta keep some of the girls at home, though.

I’ve got mine all picked except for a couple I’m not sure are coming off the track! That way as soon as Jan 1 hits I have my reservations in.

Me too, I have matched most of my broodmares and a lot of my racehorses that are going to be retired next year. But I’m also curious about new stallions that might become available

Me too. I’ve made a provisional list of who I’d like to use but I try to keep an open mind for any new boys that might become available and also if stud fees go up a lot I might need a rethink.

I will say I haven’t matched any of my created mares yet they will either see a new boy or stay at home with my boys. But after they all foal , I’ll be selling a bunch of mares bred to my studs. Probably next July.

I’ve picked stallions for all 106 of my mares.

I typically choose 3-5 possibles (unless I have my own stud in mind) since a lot comes down to stud fees. Though I’m hoping selling a good handful of broodmares around March will increase my fee budget  And leasing out a few others.

I have a spreadsheet but I have a good number of mares retiring to the shed next year so I need to go over it again. I just know I need to get my Cigar mare to Nightfight at some point,  ;D
