And I’ve just double checked and I have another Nightfight foal due 31 December!

Nice name.
I try to avoid February breeding dates to prevent this happening. If I can’t avoid one, I go for a Feb 2 slot and breed the mare on the last day of February.
They can technically go into December (if the breeding is early and the foal is premature/on the shorter gestation side) but there’s a 90% chance that the breeding shed staff will “trick” the mare into holding on until the 1st. 
(I want to say that barns use lights to get the mare’s system to think it’s not time to foal yet? I read an article about it ages ago.)

To be fair I did know that an early February date had a risk of a December foaling. I have got away with it on previous occasions so it’s my bad that I didn’t this time 
. Just hope that the other one hangs on till next year!
