On The Track:
Sleipnir would be what you would call an early bloomer on the track. In his 4th start as a 2yo he broke his maiden on the dirt. Three starts later he hit his stride and wired the field in the GI Blue Diamond Stakes (Turf). He then went on for the rest of the year to win the GI Hopeful, the GI Champagne, the GII Planet Hollywood Breeder’s Stakes, the GIII Nasua Stakes, and the Ungraded Sleepy Hollow. He also earned the eclipse award for 2yo Colt of the Year. As a 3yo, Sleipnir was 3rd in the GI Kentucky Derby, won the GI Preakness and finished 2nd in the GI Belmont. After the Belmont he beat older horses in the GI Suburban Handicap. By the time he turned four years old we could tell Sleipnir wasn’t the same horse as he was when he was a 2yo. Despite this, he did win the Ungraded Empire Classic and was consistently in the money against graded company. At five he was winless and most likely past his prime but he still showed that he could run with the best of them, finishing 2nd in both the GII Del Mar Handicap and the GI Vosburgh, both over fences.
Bloodlines:
Sleipnir boasts both a beautiful dam and sire line, his dam You Belong has shown that she was both a runner and a producer! On the track she earned over a million dollars winning both the G1 Mother Goose and finishing her career with a win against the boys in the G1 Breeder’s Cup Sprint. She has produced three other multiple stakes winners in addition to Sleipnir, GCh. Highland Desperado a G1 winner over fences, NCh. Robin Hood, a multiple G1 winner on the turf including a win in the Breeder’s Cup Mile and multiple G3 winner Airgead Dra
For [color=blue]ICh. Sleipnir - my broodmare [color=red]Tuff Muffin, who is now in foal to turf runner ICh. Almost Precious, but I think that it’s better to breed a dirt runner with Sleipnir. And the baby should have some turf talent too. She has only one foal, a weanling also bred for dirt.
She is due 1/30/16.
For [color=blue]NCh. Yes It’s Paddy - [color=red]Ch. Charlotte bred by you that we bought last April and with Clicker Lab she was 5x1st, 2x2nd, 1x4th and 1x5th. With Paddy the foal should be a sprint and classic dirt runner. She was also doing well on turf. She is qualified for Evening Flame Breeders’ Stakes and she will run. We may retire her early next year so just pick a date that is most convenient.
