Oakwood Farm's 2014 Foals

Last night Soviet Nights gave birth to a good looking dark grey son of A.P. Indy. We decided to name him, [color=blue]Soviet Union.

Late last night Ch. Time For Honor gave birth to a good looking colt by our stallion ICh. Candidate. We named the foal, [color=blue]Candidatus.

Early this morning, Delaware Flyer gave birth to a big chestnut colt by Point Given. We named the colt, [color=blue]Justa Bob.

Awe, i really like that name.

Haha, I love that name, it’s after one of the horse characters in Jane Smiley’s book ‘Horse Heaven’. If you’re interested in reading a novel about the world of horse racing this book is great. Takes about seven chapters before you can really get into it but it’s definitely worth it, I love the horse’s in the book and their perspective on things!

This morning we had two mares go into labor. There was good and bad news with both of the mares. Seeking the Fire had a very difficult time and gave birth to a fragile Highland Wizard colt but sadly he went into respiratory arrest and we could not revive him. Luckily Seeking the Fire seems okay both mentally and physically. She has a booking to Akhetnaten this year, hopefully if all goes well we’ll send her back to Wizard next year.

Kelly King also had a very difficult time giving birth but managed to deliver a nice chestnut son of A.P. Indy. Sadly Kelly King will not have anymore foals but she’ll have a great time living out with the other pensioned mares or as a babysitter.

shew, what a tough day!  Very cute A.P. Indy colt, though.  Best wishes to you in the future.

Early this morning Vixen gave birth to a colt sire by ICh. Candidate. We mulled over his name for quite awhile. We were trying to think of something related to foxes, female foxes are called vixens so in that vein we decided to name the colt [color=blue]Skulk which is what you would call a pack of foxes.

Late last night Sheza Belle gave birth to another son of ICh. Candidate. We decided to name him, [color=blue]Toothless, after the dragon in How to Train Your Dragon.

Yesterday, Street Talk gave birth to a striking grey filly sired by FFCh. High Chances. We named the filly[color=red]Aoibheal after the fairy queen of Thomond in Irish mythology.

Ahh I love Irish names, cute!
