I’m trying to match up mares and studs for next year, and I was wondering what current racehorses might be retiring to stud at the end of the season. If you could please help me and others like me out by posting a brief “ad” of your horse’s accomplishments and whatever else you feel would be relevant to prospective mare owners, that would be great.
Lochiedo Stables will be introducing DOODLES to the stallion ring next year. He is by Red Sunset out of Graceful Exit. Winner of 10 stakes races, including 5 grade ones. His highlights are 2012 Breeders Cup SC Classic and the Grand National in England. He has four races left before he retires. He will be competing in the Breeders Cup SC Endurance and then the Breeders Series. Doodles was also voted 2011 SC Colt of the year.
I’m so glad to see a Red Sunset son qualify. Congratulations! =)
We’re going to be retiring the hard-knocking son of Bold Ruler, ICh. Long Live the King, out of Infinity. He’s run well on both the turf and over sticks, with a preference towards long-sprint and classic distances. He’s had three good seasons, and has now informed us that it’s time for him to retire. I imagine we’ll introduce him at the same as our other junior stud, ICh. Dark Continent, which is $6,000.
However, it is almost certain that we will be retiring [b]Express Yourself /b to stud duties. Haven’t had the time to compile a write up for him. Will do it soon
Thanks to the both of you for the interest in Express Yourself . Considering that he will be stationed in Australia, i will be keeping the his stud fee as low as possible. Also, I dont think i will be regulating the breeding in the first season. That is, you will not need my approval to breed your mare.
The Grey Stable would like you to consider one of it’s Stallions for the 2014 breeding season. With the early retirement of Hope to Succeed we beat the bushes to find suitable replacements and I think we have done just that.
To start off I’d like you to consider WCh Highland Bandit. He will be standing for his normal fee of $50,000. Reduced rates are available @ $25,000, $12,500, $8,000 and $5000 based on breeding rankings of the mare bred to him. No breeding record or maiden mare ($50,000) Bronze mare or Stakes placed/winner ($25,000) Silver mare ($12,500) Gold mare ($8,000) and Platinum mare ($5,000).
Next will be ICh Highland Magic. His fee increases this year to $40,000 per breeding. Reduced rates apply as well and are as follows. No breeding record or maiden mare ($40,000) Bronze mare or Stakes placed/winner ($20,000) Silver mare ($15,000) Gold mare ($3,500) and Platinum mare ($2,500).
Last on the list will be GCh Secretsarebound. We managed to get him back from Australia. He is the only Grey son of Secretariat in the game and he is the perfect outcross Stallion for all the sons of Highland Rogue and What’s It Worth. Grandsons as well. He will stand for a fee of $20,000. There are no reduction in fees for this stallion. If you wish to breed to Sp_ck next year(2015) you will have to show a breeding to Secretsarebound.
Thanks for you time and I hope this helps in your decision making.
Myles, it’s great to hear about your boys. However, my question is more about racehorses that will be retired to stud in 2014. I can plan breedings to stallions that are already retired to stud, but I have no way of knowing (unless the owner says something) which current racehorses will be available for breeding next season. If at all possible, I’d prefer to keep posts to this thread on topic lest this devolve into a general stud advertisement thread.
If you want to advertise or promote your studs, it may be best to start your own thread (most stallion owners do). That way interested parties can reply directly to that thread, reserve spots, and so on.
Railbird Racing is going to put [color=blue]V is for Victory finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=2807 to Stud next year. He has won a total of 6 G1 races on both dirt and turf.
Also I have decided to waive his first years stud fee to the first 20 stables (my way of helping out). I’ll be posting a separate tread in December for bookings.
Sorry Cat, I totally misread the first post or it just didn’t click… . I’m thinking that it just didn’t click!!! One the issues you can look forward to as we all age. My apologies again!!!
[color=blue]NCh. Yes It’s Paddy will be retiring to stud at the end of this year. Paddy has been quite a consistent runner for Oakwood over the years. At 3 he won the GII MV Vase and was 2nd in the GI Mackinnon Stakes and GIII Stuyvesant Stakes. As a 4yo he won the GI Woodward Stakes, GI The Black Breeder’s Stakes, GII Lonesome Glory Breeder’s Stakes GIII Hanshin Cup and the GIII Sport Page Stakes. This year as a 5yo he started out the year great but age looks to be catching up with him. This year he’s won the GI Donn Handicap, GII San Fernando Breeder’s Cup, and the GII Strub Stakes.
All his wins were on dirt and he so far has an overall record of 69 ( 45 ) starts - 14 ( 11 ) wins - 9 ( 5 ) places - 8 ( 7 ) shows
Paddy is a create so he would be a great cross for any mare looking for fresh blood. He will most likely stand for $5k.
NCh Player(Romeo (S) - Party Girl (S)) will be retiring in 2014 (thanks to the new stud qualifications) and he has been posted as such in the stallion advertising. He will continue to race out the year, but as of now he has hit the board 22 times in stakes company and has won over $5 million. He was 2012 Turf Horse, Endurance Horse, and Older Horse of the Year and has continued to run well in 2013. His bloodline will provide a unique outcrossing for most mares and he is sure to add endurance and longevity to his foals. Looking forward to seeing what he does in the breeding shed! His fee will be waived for all Platinum, Gold, and MSW mares.
