New Stallions for 2019?

Need to start planning breedings for next year, and it’d be helpful to know what new studs will be on the market.

Feel free to post any qualified stud that will be retiring sometime during the 2019 breeding season as well as any pertinent information you think people should know.

FFCh. Black Cherry (FFCh. High Chances x Cherry Flavored) will be retiring at the end of this year. He prefers turf and seems to do well in long sprints, classic, and short endurance.

ICh. City Upon a Hill (Crystal Rainbow x Sacred Hill by Highland Wizard) may retire mid-season next year, depending on his performance as a 5yo. He prefers dirt and runs best at sprints to short classic distances.

[color=blue]ICh. Usain Bolt (Strider x Spectacular Times by Spectacular Bid) will likely retire early/mid next year. I’d love to get him his World Champion title before he retires, but he’s earned his retirement already so we’ll see how he does as a 6yo. He’s won stakes on dirt and steeplechase (with stakes places in his limited turf attempts), and seems happiest in sprints/classic distances.

99% sure that ICh Quarren (Sadlers Wells x Question Authority) will be standing next year. Like Usain Bolt, he’s not far off WCh status so we’ll see how he goes for the rest of the year to see if it’s worth carrying on at the beginning of next year for a bit. He’s a turf specialist, untried over fences and not interested in the dirt. MSW at 3, 4 and 5 years. Stakes wins at 6.5-13 furlongs with Grade 1 wins from 8-12 furlongs.

[color=blue]NCh. Al Mundhir will be standing; he’s now leased for free to Stone Hollow Stable to let them figure him out for his last three months at the races. When he comes back, he will be retired to stud.
And I’d love to send a mare to FFCh. Black Cherry!

We have 5 new Stallions standing next year, including two half-brothers:-
N.Ch. Away The Lads - 4 gr.c - Slew O’Scots x Risk Away. His best performances have been between 8f - 12f and he has only run on Turf. He has 5 G1W to his credit.

G.Ch. Glorious Victory - 4 b.c - Magic Glory x Decisive Victory. Apart from his first race as a 2YO, all of his races have been on Dirt. He has won at all distances from 5.5f - 11f. He has 1 G1W to his credit.

N.Ch. Hogsmeade - 4 gr.c - Highland Magic x Blarneystone Lane. Won his first race as a 2YO on Turf but all of his other wins have been over fences, at distances from 8f - 14f. He has 3 G1W to his credit. He won the first two legs of last years SC BS and finished 2nd in the third leg.

N.Ch. Hogwarts - 5 b.h - Magic Glory x Blarneystone Lane. All of his wins have been on Dirt and mostly between 6f - 8f. 11 of his 14 wins have come at 4YO & 5YO. He has 4 G1W to his credit, including last year’s Dubai Golden Shaheen over 6f (he was a Nose behind the great Loveofthegame in this years race).

N.Ch. Last For More - 4 b.c - Lasting Spirit x Back For More. Apart from one race on Turf as a 2YO (which he won), he has run exclusively on Dirt and has won mainly at distances between 8f & 10f. He has 6 G1W to his credit, including last year’s Kentucky Derby and was a Nose behind Stable-Companion [color=red]Saucy Magician in the Dubai World Cup this year. He won the Eclipse Award for 3YO Colt last year.

I will be retiring:

[color=blue]NCh. DUCATI, 16.2hh black stallion, Magic Cross x Pennysurprise (x Townsend Prince)
He really hasn’t been performing this year, but had a stellar career at age 2 and 3, winning and placing in several major G1 races - most notably, his win in the Breeder’s Cup Classic.

As of right now, NCh. Exit Poll & NCh. Fight The Twilight will continue running until their performance starts to drop.
