Near-Liquidation Auction

Unfortunately, I’ve been losing interest these last couple years despite multiple auctions to try and refresh the herd and lower things to more manageable numbers. The fact of the matter is I’ve happily played FF for 20 years this summer, which is insane to think of! But I think my time is coming to a close. I will be purging the herd down to threadbare numbers and retaining a small handful of horses so I can pop in on the rare occasion and keep testing the new app, then revisit how I ultimately feel come year-end. I’ve played for so long I can’t quite step away entirely.

First auction will be the initial bulk and there will likely be 200-250 horses between racehorses, broodmares, yearlings, and the few weanlings I can throw in. There are no reserves and the bulk of the broodmares will be in foal for either this year or next.

Sorry to hear you’re stepping back, but I hope the reduced numbers keeps you around. Wild to think it’s been 20 years!

Sorry to see that you’re cutting back. I started in FF in 2008 so am approaching 28 years. While there have been times when I’ve thought about cutting back or even quitting, I can’t bring myself to do that.

I will be looking through to see if there are any horses that interest me.

I have to admit to being disappointed that you didn’t give everybody a chance to buy some of your Stallions instead of selling them all to Willa. I would have loved to have a chance to get a couple of them.

Second that!

I’ve never thought of quitting as I just use FF as a distraction throughout the week, I wouldn’t know what to do if it wasn’t here.

Hoping you stick around.

It’s been 19+ years for me with a few years of gap in between.

Looks like limiting the stable size is becoming very important.

Thanks Shanthi for your continued effort and dedication.

I’ll be sad to see your activity dwindling down, Black Storm is such a staple stable in breeding and racing! I can imagine that the time it can consume to manage such a big herd can feel like a struggle at times. I know I definitely have my ups and downs in the amount of attention I pay to the game just because of shifting interest.

Hopefully reducing your numbers and giving your attention to your favorites will give you back the joy of playing FF.

Final numbers coming in at ~275 consigned for this Wednesday, including MSWs and MSPs, unstarted 2yos, youngsters, and almost all broodmares will be in foal (and everything from unranked to gold). I’m actually looking forward to having significantly fewer racehorses to sort through, and in the event I panic in a few months and stay on, I’m actually quite happy with a massive reboot. It was concerning how readily I threw a ton of horses into this auction, though.

There will definitely be a second auction later this year just to account for weanlings and more recent acquisitions I can’t consign.

I hope the downsizing does rekindle some joy in playing the game again. It would be a shame to see you go completely after all this time.

This Auction should have started about an hour ago and, while I was able to make a bid on one horse, the Server seems to have crashed and I am unable to bid on any others. Is anybody else having the same problem?

Kept thinking it was Wednesday. Nope, today, oops.

Happy bidding!

Well…so much for me trying to keep my stable numbers in check. :joy:

Here’s me doing the same, I’m working on the theory I can retire a heap of oldies, replacing them with some really nice stock.

Me too. Like a kid in a sweet shop!

Glad there’s some excitement for new horses! Still 91 horses without bids.

Shanthi - I love the behind-the-scenes auction dashboard!

I think I’d bid on nearly 40  but keep getting the error so not sure what I’ve brought :face_with_peeking_eye:

I can see some have turned up & I can ship them about but it still says they are consigned to the auction, I can’t allocate training either.

Still I reckon this has been a great test of the new site and it’s gone fairly well.

I had fun building it, but am kind of regretting seeing the numbers now.

At least I let about 25% of my interested horses go to others…

I had a very long wish list and, surprisingly, brought home a fair proportion of them including some of my homebreds. Thank you for offering them.

Started at 274, and down to 50 with no bids. Still several blacktype mares who will come in foal, yearlings, and a number of blacktype racehorses! Auction ends Tuesday.

Because it’s conveniently there, another batch will be consigned to the FF June auction.

Round 2 liquidation auction set for July.

It’s becoming clear that I believe my 20 years in FF is sunsetting. This has been an amazing game and I always looked forward to race results every Wednesday and Saturday morning (results always ran around 6am my time), and naming new foals each season. It was so incredible to have two Kentucky Derby winners in that time, a Dubai World Cup winner, see my OTB% increase with every BC year, and to see more than one homebred make it to studhood. It’s still hard to fully pull away after so many years, but I just haven’t been logging on to do much since the first auction, and I hate seeing horses just sit.

If I have anyone you have been stalking or are REALLY interested in acquiring, send me a pm.
